1866 (27 Sept.), Washington 3c. rose, two vertical pairs and single tied by grid cancel to small envelope endorsed "France via New York" to Combrondes, alongside scarce "DETROIT MICH SEP 27 PAID 12" exchange office mark, even though the cover was endorsed "France via New York" it most likely travelled with the "Moravian"  to Londonderry, envelope some tears, otherwise fine and attractive

1854 (Oct. 3), Washington 3c. red imperforated with manuscript mark on folded lettersheet from Spencer, Tennesse, endorsed "via New York & Liverpool" to Leipzig. The letter weighed more than ½oz and was rated as double, with black integral cds. "N. YORK AM. Pkt 46 OCT 14", carried by the "Atlantic" from New York to Liverpool, charged with "26" sgr. to the recipient, interesting cover with attempted part-payment
 

1855 (Jan 10), Washington 12c. vertical pair with lower sheet margin with grid cancel in envelope with adjacent integral cds. "NEW YORK 3 JAN 10", carried by the "Atlantic", to Dublin, Ireland. the pair touched at left, some toning at bottom of cover, still attractive usage

1856, Franklin 1c. blue and horizontal pair Washington 10c. green tied by cds. "TRENTON JUN 6 1856" to buff envlope with adjacent "NEW YORK JUN 7 AM Pkt" and manuscript "6" due added, carried by "Baltic", "Euxine", "Bengal" and "Ganges" to Hong Kong, stamp cut into, part of backflap missing, still attractive

1852, Washington 3c. red imperforated tied by cds. "NEW YORK JAN 4" to folded letter endorsed "Per Steamer" to Marseille, carried by the "Canada" from Boston to London, attempted part-payment of 5 cents British treaty rate but treated as wholly unpaid, adhesives some imperfections, otherwise fine

1857, Washington 3c. block of four and horizontal pair with manuscript "Kittle Creek 14 July 57" on postal stationery envelope 3c. buff to Colne with "19" credit handstamp, carried on the "Asia" to Liverpool, no atttempt to collect to deficiency of 3c., same apparant imperfections, still attractive and scarce

1860 (Jan), Washington 12c., two singles, one with straight edge at left, tied by cork cancel to buff envelope to Liverpool where it was delivered and re-directed to Paris, paid with pair 1855 Victoria 4d. rose tied by duplex "LIVERPOOL FE 13 60", one 12c. adhesive small corner fault, attractive entire, a similar cover ex Marc Haas collection

1860 (13 Aug), Washington 12c. horizontal pair tied by cds. "BURLINGTON AUG 13" to envelope, carried by the "Asia" to Liverpool where it was delivered and re-directed to Farnham, paid with Victoria 1d. red tied by duplex "LIVERPOOL AU 27", attractive entire

1862, Franklin 1c. blue, two singles and 3c. rose together with 10c. green tied by target cancel to envelope from "GARETTSVILLE MAY 9" to Paris, in New York handles as overweight, and thus red boxed "SHORT PAID" next to "NEW YORK 9 MAY 10" applied, carried with the "America" to Queenstown, and from Calais to Paris where the cover was charged "16" decimes, a fine and attractive 3-color franking 

1863, Revenue stamp 1p. on blueish paper on folded letter dated "Wigton 10mo 9" to Philadelphia, treated as unpaid in Liverpool and "19 CENTS" debit cancel applied, carried by the "Asia" to New York, in Philadelphia integral cds. "PHILADELPHIA Br. PKt. 24" struck and tying the adhesive, fine and interesting entire

1867(27 Aug), Washington 24c. tied by cork cancel to envelope via  "BOSTON AUG 27 PAID 19", carried by the "Java", to London where it was delivered and re-directed to Islington, paid with Victoria 1d. red tied by duplex "LONDON SP 7 67", attractive entire

1867, Washington 10c. vertical pair with straight edge at right tied by target cancel on buff cover from "BOWENSBURG JUN 18" to Dublin, boxed "Short Paid" alongside, put on board of the "Cuba" from Boston to Queenstown, charged with "1/-" due handstamp, fine and attractive entire

1869 (29 Nov), Pictorials 2c. brown and 10c. orange tied by target cancel to orange-buff cover from "NEW BOSTON NOV 69" to Suffolk, possibly carried by the "City of Brussels" or the "Scotia" to Queenstown, it was then sent to Packenham, then Debenham then Stonham with an "arrival" mark of "BURY-ST-EDMUNDS DE 19 69", adhesives small imperfections, but an interesting and attractive cover

1869 (24 Dec), Pictorials 3c. blue horizontal strip of four with pen strokes on cover with manuscript despatch "Tebeauville Dec 24" to Colne, via New York and carried by the "Russia" to Queentown, possible the cover stayed on board until she arrived in Liverpool, because the receiver cds. shows "COLNE JA 8 70", adhesive some minor imperfections, very attractive

1870 (13 Jun), Pictorials 2c. brown horizontal pair, deep color, tied by quartered cork and cds. "BROOKLINE JUL 13" to small cover via Calais to Paris, "GB/40c" accountancy and "5" decimes due handstamp struck alongside, part of backflap missing, otherwise fine and attractive

1858, Franklin 1c. blue, Washington 3c. rose and vertical pair 10c. green tied by cds. "SYRACRUSE DEC 10 1858" to envelope with red handstamp "3" struck in New York to Cardiff, carried by the "Arago" to Southampton, 1c. with tear, some toning, otherwise fine and attractive

1858, Washington 10c. black, block of four and horizontal pair tied by cds. "Oconomowoc Wis. Dec 6" to large-size cover to Worcester, with "NEW YORK AM. PACKET DEC 11" cds. and matching framed "Short Paid" with blue crayon "96" due rating, carried by "Arago" from New York to Southampton with "4/-" quadruple packet rating, one stamp in block creased, left stamp of pair faulty, otherwise fine and an extremely rare use of 1857 Issue 12c. as block of four, Ashbrook certificate (1954)

The 72c paid in adhesives was the attempt to prepay triple the 24c rate, but the U.S.-British treaty required four-times for letters weighing over 1½ ounces. It is therefore rated "short paid" and due 96c without any credit for prepayment.

"SAN FRANCISCO JUL 12" to folded lettersheet to Bordeaux, in New York handles as overweight, and thus red boxed "SHORT PAID" next to "NEW YORK 18 AUG 3" applied, carried with the "Glasgow" to Queenstown, and from Calais to Bordeaux where the cover was charged "16" decimes, some eraser erosion in address panel, otherwise fine

1864, Washington 24c. grey-lilac tied by grid cancel to envelope with adjacent cds. "WARREN MAR 30 1864" to Stradbally, Ireland. The cover was overweight, and the adhesive was not accepted as part-payment, subsequently "NEW YORK AM Pkt. 42 APR 42" due handstamp struck and carried on the "City of Washington" to Queenstown with transit mark of Piltown, few folds and adhesive small corner crease, otherwise fine and unusual entire

1875 (10 Nov), Bank Note Issue 3c. green, 10c. brown and 15c. orange tied by cork cancel with adjacent cds. "MADISON NOV 10" to reduced cover to Moradabd, India. Adhesives slightly overpaying the ½oz rate to India per British mail via Brindisi. Conveyed from Boston with "City of Richmond" to Queenstown, from Brindisi with the steamer "Baroda" to Alexandria and to it's final destination, adhesives some imperfections, still attractive

1858, Washington 12c. black horinzontal pair tied by cds. "ADRIAN FEB  13" to buff cover,  carried by the "Fulton" to Southampton, to Scottland with red handstamp "3" of the New York Exchange Office, some edge wear, otherwise fine

1857 (5 Aug), Washington 10c. green, horizontal strip of three (cut into) tied by cds. "SAN FRANCISCO AUG 5 1857" to folded lettersheet endorsed "Via New York and Havre", carried on Vanderbilts "North Star" to Southampton with London and Calais transit marks, to "Tägerwilen near Constanz", Switzerland, attractive entire
