1818, "Offizier Brief aus Luxemburg", manuscript endorsement on front of entire letter, dated "Perl den 24ten Septbr. 1818" to Mainz; reverse seal removed when opened. This is the earliest recorded 'officer's letter' from the fortress which was carried by the military mail against regulation because the sender had quit the army to marry in Luxemburg

1849, "frei als Offz. Brief der Bundesfst. Luxemburg ..." in manuscript on entire letter with inside beautiful lithographic view of Luxemburg, to the castle Myllendonck near Mönchengladbach; on reverse transit mark of Trier and red wax seal

"OFFICIER BRIEF LUXEMBURG", clear on envelope with Luxemburg 1859, 37½ c. green, tiny touched at upper right, otherwise ample to large margins, tied by clear cds. "LUXEMBOURG 26 MAI 64" to Münster with arrival mark and transit mark of Trier; a fine and rare cover
"MIL:BRIEF.ST.LUXEM=BURG" in blue, very nice strike on lettersheet with adjacent "LUXEMBURG 8 FEVR. 65" to Simmern; scarce in blue and latest recorded use in this colour, sign. Meier BPP

"MIL:BRIEF.ST.LUXEM=BURG" in blue on small envelope, franked with Luxemburg 1859, 12½ c. rose with good to very wide margins, tied by clear "LUXEMBOURG 31 AOUT 64", to Speicher near Trier with transit and arrival marks; the envelopes somewhat unfresh, but extremely scarce combination, especially with the 12½ c. value, sign. Goebel
"MIL:BRIEF.ST.LUXEM=BURG" in black on lettersheet, franked with Luxemburg 1865/75, 25 c. blue, tied by cds. "LUXEMBOURG 24 AOUT 67" to Sobernheim with railway transit mark and arrival mark of the next day; some light folds, not affecting the stamp; a most remarkable and unique cover of the last day of the Prussian post office at the fortress with extremely scarce usage of the rouletted 25 c.

"MIL:BRIEF.ST.LUXEM=BURG" in black, very nice strike on Prussia postal stationery envelope 3 sgr. orange endorsed at bottom left "Militairbrief der Bundesfestung Luxemburg" and adjacent transit mark "TRIER 30/4" to Eisleben with arrival mark; on reverse return address of a sergeant of 37th Infanterie Regiment. A very fine and rare entire. We have recorded only one other Prussian stationery envelope with this marking (2 sgr. with marking in the second type)
