377th Auction

A group of 13 mostly stampless covers most bearing pre-stamp intaglio seals, some as many as 7 seals including a cover with oval Khetri strike. A very interesting group.

British India 1882-90  1/2 anna blue green, 1 anna brown-purple, 2 annas blue & 4 annas olive-green each handstamped "RAJ / SERVICE" in green for use by Jaipur public works department. BPA certificate

1910 India KEVII 1/4a postal stationery postcard from Shahdara to Jaipur but missent to Jodhpur, redispatched to the Imperial exchange post office at Jaipur City where was transferred over to the Jaipur State Post with a trapezoid "Bearing" strike in black with a boxed strike in red with Devnagri letters to indicate that the postcard was received after dispatch of mail that particular day.

Three revenue documents franked with various Jaipur stamps overprinted "REVENUE" in both thick or thin letters in denominations including 1 anna, 4 annas, 8 annas and 1 rupee.

1883,  1/2 anna vermillion bottom marginal strip of three with major error imperf between horizontal pair; most likely unique.

1880-94  1/4 anna, 1/2 anna, 1 anna & 2 annas all four denominations on both white wove paper and toned wove paper in complete sheets of 15 or 20. A total of 8 sheets

Telegraph receipt franked with 1899-1909 2 annas reddish violet & olive-brown + 1905-1905  8 annas on 5 rupees, certificate ISES 2021.

3 Sept 1903, receipt portion of telegraph form for telegraph sent from Skardu to Bombay franked with 1899  8 annas yellow & bright blue tied by SKARDU telegraph office seal cancel. Telegraphs originating from Skardu are extremely rare

1905-09,  "TWO ANNAS" on 2 rupee brown & light blue with watermark (SG value £275)

Decorative envelope believed to be intended for delivery of Greetings Telegrams, the panels appear to contain felicitous quotations, possibly from the Quran

1942 1 anna deep myrtle-green perf 10½ postally used tied to ration slip. Sugar ration application slips were required to be franked with postage stamp and mailed in. The 1 anna stamp paid for postage while the sometimes accompanying 1 anna pink revenue stamp paid for the application fee (SG value £3200)

India QV ¼a postcard from Jhalawar to Bundi additionally franked with 1886-90 1p yellow-green tied by a superb strike of Jhalawar intaglio seal cancel, the postcard cancelled by "JHALRAPATAN-CITY / JHALAWAR / DE 27 98" Imperial exchange postoffice cancel with "BUNDI  / DE 28 98" delivery cds. Trivial corner damage to postcard (SG value £720)

1890  1/4 anna green part imperf sheet of six with error, printed on horizontally laid paper. These stamps were printed on vertically laid paper.

India QV 1/2 anna postal stationery envelope from Jhalawar to Gwalior cancelled by "JHALRAPATAN SEP 18 95" cds additionally franked with Jhalawar 1/2 anna green tied by both the Imperial Jhalrapatan cds and the Jhalawar intaglio seal cancel with boxed "TOO LATE" strike on reverse and Gwalior delivery cds on reverse

1890  1/4a green pair on vertical laid paper on cover tied by intaglio seal cancel. Double weight covers of Jhalawar are scarce.
