1858, First issue, the famous error of colour MEDIO PESO rose red in vertical pair with normal stamp UNA PESETA, clear to large margins, tied by 3 strikes of cds. "ADMON.PRAL. DE CORREOS TACNA 18 JUNIO 1858" to entire double rate letter to Cochabamba, Bolivia. "4"reales in manuscript (somewhat faint next to the stamps) charged upon arrival for the internal postage. Very fine and fresh condition. There are just 4 covers recorded, bearing a se-tenant pair of the error of colour, this is the only one to a foreign destination. 1861/67, 5 c. red-brown, horizontal strip of 3 with the right stamp being a straddle-pane single showing a small portion of the stamp from the adjacent pane, tied by cork cancel and faind red "N.York PAID..." to cover to Germany with adjacent "AMERIKA ÜBER BREMEN FRANCO". "NEW YORK" and matching "10" in circle on orange buff double-weight cover to Trondheim Norway, endorsed "via Hamburg or Bremen paid" at bottom left, carried by the "New York" of the NDL from New York to Bremen arriving on Feb. 19th. with boxed "BREMEN 16/2 68 FRANCO" and matching, since the letter was treated as a double-weight letter, "Weiterfr. 4 Sgr." applied. 10c. adhesive applied over edge. Small tear beneath adhesives. An exceptionally rare and attractive 1861 issue franking prepaying the rare North German Union Direct Mail rate to Norway, perhaps the only known double-weight cover

FRANCO" and boxed accountancy mark "Weiterfr. 2 Sgr." to Geneva, Switzerland. A very attractive entire showing the scarce 15c. Rate via Open Mail via Bremen which was only possible between January 1st and March 30th 1868

Some light creasing, strip has been lifted and remounted, otherwise fine. The largest multiple of this stamp on cover (one of only two recorded) and very late usage of this stamp.
