"MAGWE": on underfranked envelope to England, bearing 1 a. brown-purple tied by square circle "MAGWE 2 MA. 90", adjacent "T", taxed manuscript "42 cts" and therefore accountancy mark "I.B. 8½ d", reverse transit cds. "RANGOON X MA. 25 90" and "BOMBAY F APR 4 90", fine, a scarce and attractive usage form Burma

Used in Burma: 1874, oval "BURMAN RANGOON" on envelope to Gènes, Italy, with India 1 a., 4 a., and 8 a. tied by Barred Obliterator and "RANGOON NOV. 8", adjacent "PD", reverse transit and arrival cds. "GENOVA 25 DIC 74"; cover slightly shortened at left, fine and scarce

"6 JU 6 1840", fine. An interesting and scarce maritime mail sent during the Second Turko-Egyptian War

"MADRAS": clear strike on a folded entire letter to London, dated 1820, adjacent framed "SHIP LETTER LYMINGTON" (SG Type 14/7 G), with red arrival cancellations on the flap, some transportation traces, still fine and very rare English maritime entry mark, the "MADRAS SHIP LETTER" unrecorded by Giles

1864, Entire folded letter from Calcutta to Port Louis, Mauritius, dated inside "Calcutta 2 Mai 1866", endorsed on front per steamer "ST JOSEPH", adjacent superb strike "6 d- TO PAY", reverse transit cds. "REUNION 4 JUIL. 66" and arrival "MAURITIUS JY 7 66"; very fine, a delightful and scarce maritime entire

1852, Scinde Dawk, ½ a. white, cut in at left and clear at right otherwise good margins all around, used with dotted cancellation, small thin at upper left, otherwise fine

1854, 4 a. blue/red, 4th Printing Frame Die II, Head Die III, cut to shape, fresh colours, neatly tied by losange barred obliterator "238" MURREE (Martin Type 5) to small envelope to London, alongside red framed "PAID" and illegible cds., endorsed on front "Via Bombay", reverse "AM", "PM" and indistinct cds., part of back flap missing and usual wrinkles, still fine and scarce solo usage

1864 8 p. purple, 1 a. brown and pair and a single 2 a. yellow, used on an envelope, tied by the Calcutta `B1´ octagonal in black, also two manuscript ink line cancels and the boxed ÌNDIA/PAID` in red, sent to Epping, England, backstamp dated February 9th 1864, with arrival datestamp in black to front March 13th, endorsed `Via Calcutta and Marseille Per after packet`,  does have a vertical filing crease to left side well clear of stamps, some wrinkling to edges and the odd minor tone spot to stamp perforations, otherwise a very fine tri-colour combination franking via France; a scarce example.  Cert. 1866, fiscal stamp 6 a. with overprint "POSTAGE", with 8 p. purple, tied by Bombay duplex of 29.12.1866 to blue cover via France and forwarder to Edinburgh. A very fine and rare entire. Certificate Holcombe (1987)

1882, ½ a. blue-green, nine singles, fresh colours, all tied by Barred "B" (Martin Type 18) to reverse of envelope to Cairo, adjacent cds. "BOMBAY NOV. 92", transit cds. "SUEZ 27 XI 92" and arrival "CAIRE 28 XI 92", usual minor aging, fine and scarce mail to Egypt

1948, Gandhi 1½ a., Colour Proof in bistre-brown, imperforated on gummed paper and affixed on small card, part of design teared out on top and some toning on reverse, still a presentable example of this very rare proof, certificate  BPA (2016)
