W.E. Singer & Co's Feather River Express, Connecting With Wells, Fargo & Co, 1855 (July 30), choice strike of blue oval handstamp on folded entire to San Francisco, franked with 3c. Red, tied by ble oval "Wells, Fargo & Co / Marysville / Express" handstamp, blue Paid handstamp and manuscript notation alongside, remarkably fresh and very fine.
Wells, Fargo & Co, Ophir, Nevada Territory, circa 1864, blue oval datestamp on 3 c. pink postal stationery entire, with Wells Fargo printed frank at left, to Carson City, Nevada, with grey shaded all-over advertisement for “Hackett & Kendall / Dealers in General Merchandise / Ophir / Nevada”, upper right corner slightly clipped, otherwise very fine, a desirable cover, rare given the combination of the scarce blue Wells Fargo cancellation and full-front advertisement.
Wells, Fargo & Co Express "Ophir", blue oval handstamp on cover to Gold Hill, Placer County, California, postmarked with crisp "San Franciso Cal / 5" c.d.s. in black (24 Feb), back flap with blue negative "Wells Fargo & Co / Ophir" handstamp, small piece torn from flap clear of handstamp, else a fresh and desirable cover, fine; with 1988 Philatelic Foundation certificate.
Wells, Fargo & Co, $1.00 red Pony Express, margins close to touching, affixed to 10 c. star die postal stationery entire with Wells, Fargo & Co. printed frank in red, adhesive tied by bold strike of “Pony Express / San Francisco / Aug 7” Running Pony datestamp in blue, indicia cancelled by green “St. Joseph MO.” c.d.s. (19 Aug), to Athens, New York, stamp has been lifted and replaced, and the Running Pony cancellation neatly improved in places, yet an iconic postmark on a most attractive and scarce cover, one of four recorded examples carried on this eastward trip of the Pony Express; with 1965 Philatelic Foundation certificate. Wells, Fargo & Co, Virginia City Pony Express, 1862-4, 10c brown, margins ample to large on two sides, close to touching on others, tied to Wells Fargo & Co. 3c pink postal stationery entire, with printed frank and address of San Francisco merchant Solomon Wagenheim, adhesive and indicia each cancelled by blue oval "Wells, Fargo & Co / Virginia City, N.T. / Express" oval, slightly reduced at left, adhesive with some staining at top right corner, but a scarce franking.
Wells, Fargo & Co, Virginia City Pony Express, 1862-4, 25c blue, margins ample to very large on three sides, slightly into at foot, tied to Wells Fargo & Co. 3c pink postal stationery entire to Virginia City by blue double-circle Wells, Fargo & Co Sacramento c.d.s., roughly reduced at right, trimming indicia, yet a difficult franking.
Wells, Fargo & Co, Virginia City Pony Express, 1862-4, 25c. blue, large to very large margins all around, tied to Wells Fargo & Co. 3c pink postal stationery entire from the Goslinsky correspondence to San Francisco by blue oval “Wells, Fargo & Co / Virginia City N.T.” datestamp (20 Dec), H.F. Lewitt & Co corner card, reduced at left and variously flawed as common for this correspondence, adhesive with some tone spots, an uncommon usage.
Wells, Fargo & Co, Virginia City Pony Express, 1862-4, 20c red, margins mostly ample to large on all sides, barely touched at top right, affixed to 3c pink postal stationery entire, with printed address of the Mexican Silver Mining Co., Virginia City, struck with clear oval “Wells, Fargo & Co / Carson City” in blue, hinge remnants on reverse, the adhesive not originating on this cover, fine.
Wells, Fargo & Co, Virginia City Pony Express, printed frank with black “PAID 25 Cts.” surcharge below, denoting the rate for conveyance via Pony, on 3c pink postal stationery entire, struck with fair oval “Wells, Fargo & Co / Carson City” datestamp (28 Dec), from the Sinsheimer correspondence to San Francisco, a most attractive and fine Pony Express usage, one of approximately twenty such surcharged examples recorded; with 1980 Philatelic Foundation certificate.

Whiting & Co's Feather River Express, Paid, 1866 (July 11), banner frank in black on 3c. Nesbitt postal stationery cover to Quincy, struck with faint blue double-circle Marysville c.d.s., likely of Wells Fargo, with which Whiting & Co's met in Marysville, reverse with sender's datestamp of the tobacco & dry goods importers M. Marcuse & Co. slightly reduced at right and repaired, some overall discolouration, but scarce.
1 Groschen karmin mit Plattenfehler “fehlender 8. Strich der ersten Strichleiste” (Feld 106) im Viererblock mit drei Normalmarken je mit klarem DKr. "LUDWIGSRUH 26.3.72" auf behördlichem Insinuationsdocument (Rücksendeteil) nach Frankfurt mit Ausgabestempel. Ungewöhnlich mit voll frankiertem Porto nach vollzogener Insinuation von allen Gebühren (2 Groschen Briefgebühr bis 250 g für den Hinweg + 1 Groschen Insinuationsgebühr + 1 Groschen Briefgebühr für den Rückweg), hier mit Viererblock der 1 Groschen- Marke dargestellt. Die farbfrische Einheit und das Dokument sind einwandfreier und guter Gesamterhaltung, in dieser Kombination sehr selten, Fotoattest Krug BPP (2024)
1874, 2 ½ auf 2 ½ Groschen braunorange mit Doppelprägung (1. Prägung um ca. 1 mm nach links versetzt), mit klarem EKr. "CASSEL 13.2." auf Briefkuvert nach New York mit Ankunftsstempel. Der Umschlag mit rückseitigen Öffnungsfehlern und kleinem Einriss oben (hinterlegt), die Marke ist farbfrisch und in einwandfreier Erhaltung. Auf Brief sind bisher nur wenige Doppelprägungen dieser Marke bekannt, eine große Seltenheit, signiert Hennies BPP mit Fotoattest (1975) und Fotoattest Krug BPP (2014)

N2 21.11.73" in Rot klar auf Paketbegleit-Briefkuvert für eine Kiste mit Leitvermerk "via Bremen" mit Röteltaxe "18/130 = 148" (Groschen) für die bar bezahlte Gebühr (9x 2 Groschen bis Bremen + 130 Groschen für den weiteren Transport) und Blaustift-Weiterfranco-Vermerk "Wf 130" für das Weiterfranco ab Bremen nach Hunterspoint in Bundesstaat New York in guter Gesamterhaltung. Sehr schöner Brief aus dem sogenannten "Württenberger Fund"
