UNITED STATES – 1865 – The Stamp Collector's Record (Nos. 4, 7, 8/1865) – The publisher was S. Allen Taylor. The first issue of his magazine was published in Montreal/Canada in 1864, the second in Albany and later in Boston, both in the USA. Thus the magazine was the first specialised journal in Canada up to number 8, and then the first in the USA! Only a handful of specimen copies are known to exist. Each issue with 4 pages, some with small foxing spots. Very very rare!
PLUS: Smith, W. F.: The Collector's Cabinet (No. 1, Dec 1864). This is a price list, not a journal. No more printed. In very good condition, 6 pages.
PLUS: Trifet, F.: The American Stamp Mercury (1867–1870). One of the first US philatelic journals, published in Boston from 1867. The first volume is complete in a contemporary hardbound volume (with faded spine label), with gold title imprint and gold trim on the pages, absolutely perfect condition. A literary rarity.
