1851/57, 12 c. black, a pair and a single, margins in places and right-hand stamp lightly creased, tied by neat „DU BUQÜE JUL 29 1857“ datestamp to yellow envelope routed via New York American Packet (August 1, 1857) and „Prussia closed Mail“, „AACHEN 13.8. / FRANCO“ datestamp and „Franco Preuss. resp.Vereins. Ausg(angs)-Gr(enze)“ instructional marking alongside, to „Zillis, Ct. Bünden, Schweiz, Europa“, tiny border crease and rough opened at left, otherwise fine and attractive.
1858, Folded tissue-paper envelope bootlegged from Smyrna, Turkey to Boston, carried by Capt. Watson ‘Ship Henry Hill’ with 122 bales madder roots, ms. “Via Trieste” inside, letter with embossing and black sender cachet F.C. Blackler Smyrna on reverse. At arrival in US Franklin 1 c. blue type V tied by black “PAID” in circle to envelope and red “Boston Mass. Nov/12” arrival cds. on front. Tiny file fold, otherwise Very Fine and a scarce usage.
