HAWAIIAN _ISLANDS / DEC 17" and front side adjacent clear red "HONOLULU U.S. POSTAGE PAID / DEC. 24" to New York with combination franking US 1863, 5 c. brown (applied defective at left) with clear cogwheel and adjacent "SAN FRANCISCO CAL / JAN 14"; the envelope with small faults and reverse flap missing, still an attractive and rare cover
