6 d. reddish-purple in horizontal pair with clear to large margins, with central numeral "51" and tied by orange "PAIDÂ 3 d." to registered double-rate envelope with clear adjacent "BROCKVILLE DEÂ 30 1858" to Chicago; on reverse transit mark of Windsor and arrival mark; colour of the franking somewhat faded and the right stamp with vertical crease prior to use, the cover somewhat faulty on reverse. The only recorded multiple of the rare colour/paper variety and the only multiple rate registered entire to the US with 3 d. registration fee paid in cash Provenance: John F.
