1861: Cover from London to Mess. Buissonnett, Shanghai, China endorsed 'via Marseilles' franked by 1856 6 d. deep lilac (four examples, paying the under 3/4 ounce rate) all tied by London '45' obliterators in black. Manuscript '2' (pence) in red for Hong Kong credit. Reverse with London datestamp (Oct 26) and HONG KONG transit cds (Dec 13). A charming and scarce franking.
Eugene Buissonnett was a French merchant of Shanghai and later author of the book „de Pekin a Shanghai“, published Paris 1871.
