1857/59, White paper: Master die proof of the octagonal design with "TASMANIA" and "SIX PENCE" over-engraved by engine turning but still visible, printed in black on India paper, mounted on card. Very fine and rare, only 3 such proofs are recorded, one being in the Royal Collection. Provenance: Dr. Fleming (1951) Louise Boyd Dale and Alfred F. Lichtenstein (1968-70) Joseph Hackmey (2009)
