1854, 6 d. dull lilac, cut square with margins in places, and 1855, 2 d. blue, pl. 5, QA, wmk small crown, perf 14, tied by Scots local "INDIA STREET" to envelope (opened out for display) posted AUG 31, 1855 to Lüneburg in Hannover, very fresh state of preservation (Mi.-Nr. 5, 9B)
1855, 4 d. rose-carmine, tied by duplex cancel "JERSEY MY20 58" to folded letter to Anvers, reverse with transit and arrival mark, fine
1865, 4 d. vermilion, plate 7, and 6 d. lilac, plate 5, tied by numeral "15" to registered envelope from London 1866 via France to Mannheim in the duchy of Baden, showing adjacent red "REGISTERED PD LONDON 14 MR 66", French transit mark and straight-line "Chargé"; on reverse several transit marks including oval "FRANKREICH über BADEN". The postage rate would have been correct for the way via Belgium, for the transportation via France 2 d. are lacking, nevertheless the cover was transported without further charge; the 6 d. somewhat close at the margin but still fine, an attractive cover, certificate Louis BPP
1867, 3 d. rose pl. 9, tied by Ilford duplex to cover to St. Omer. On arrival the cover was readressed and forwarded to Charenton Lew Port; however it was mailed in the post box and the re-adressing remained unpaid. Therefore straightline "TROUVEE DANS LA BOITE" and "40" in black was applied, the Great Britain adhesive beeing erased by pen strokes, scare and despite same faults an appealing cover with rare Intructional marking
3 d. rose, pl. 10 used on underpaid cover 1873 to Nassau, Bahamas, tied by London duplex (July 11), charged 1/3 d. in manuscript to pay, further manuscript at top of cover 'Defi(ciency) 9 d. 1/2 fine 6 d.' and charged 1/3 d. in manuscript accordingly, Bahamas date-stamp on reverse (Sept 9) and manuscript 'Not Known' in red ink at left; an unusual usage to a scarce destination and very fine
6 d. dull violet, tied by numeral "498" to folded letter to Porto with adjacent
oval "FRANCA" and scarce boxed "P.BRIT" and red "MANCHESTER PAID", reverse with transit and arrival mark, horizontal filing fold, otherwise fine

8 d. orange, a fine single franking on 1878 printed 'Via Brindisi' envelope addressed to the P&O Agent in Aden, tied by '983' obliterator. Saundersfoot dispatch cds. (Sept 26) on reverse with Aden arrival cds. (Oct 9) alongside; a scarce franking
1883/84, 10 sh. ultramarine with oval "Registered" mark and parts of a red cancellation, fine (SG £ 475,-) (ex Sammlung Gubito)

1902, 1 d. scarlet, tied by duplex cancel "WORCESTER JA14 03" to cover to Rangoon than readressed several times, front showing several postage dues marks and reverse with transit marks of e.g. Sinagore and Yokohama, opened on two sides and some usual imperfections, but still good quality for this cover
1 d. tied on arrival by cds. "GRANVILLE MANCHE 23-7 03" to postcard to Paris, mailed on board of steamer with scarce "ANGL. B.M. - GRANVILLE" octagonal datestamp (Salles 379) in black, card was underpaid and taxed with Postage Due 30 c. pale carmine on receipt, an unusual usage
