7½ d. yellow-green and 3 d. red on hard wove paper, 2 copies each, two values at one side slightly touched resp. cut-into, otherwise good to wide margins and fine deep colours, tied by numeral "1" to registered mourning cover with weak adjacent despatch mark of Barrie (partly slightly improved by pencil) to London with adjacent straight line and crowned "REGISTERED"; the cover was carried by Cunard Line 'Arabia' which departed from New York on 25.11.1857; on front manuscript "6" (partly tying one stamp) for 6 d. registration fee to be collected from the addressee. A marvelous cover and the only known double-rate registered cover to England carried by the Cunard Line; one of the most precious letters of Canada Provenance: Gerald E.
