FRANCE: 1870 (18 October), 1863 40 c. Napoleon lauree , tied to folded cover by Paris Star “8” in black, carried by the balloon “Lafayette” to Carcassonne, backstamped upon receipt on 23 October, redirected to Constantinople, reverse with c.d.s. arrival backstamp (4 November), adhesive oxidized, yet a rare destination for ballon monte mail, fine; signed Calves.
1926, Karadeniz Travelling Exhibition, exposition vignette affixed alongside 10k deep blue, the latter cancelled by commemorative “Republique Turque / Agence Postale / Exposition Flottante” Karadeniz ship cancel, postmarked Danzig (2 Aug), reverse with second vignette and pair of 2 1/2k slate Pictorials, some small edge faults, but a scarce cancellation from this famed “floating exhibition," offered with an additional unused vignette, fine.
