Canea 1907, Cretan stamps not accepted by the Turkish Authorities: Cover franked with a 25L (1905 issue), tied with "CHANIA 8.Aug.1907", sent to "CONSTANTINOPLE" (Austrian Levant & Ottoman cds). The Authorities didn't accept the Cretan stamp (the Cretan State was not recognized by the Ottoman Empire), they blotted the stamp and marked the envelope with oval "T" marking. The receiver paid 2x1pi by Ottoman Postage due stamps (1905 issue), affixed on reverse and tied by Ottoman pmk dated 5.9.323, very rare and desirable item, a must for every Postal History exhibit
