1855-1970, a comprehensive used collection in two albums, neatly-mounted and annotated, with a focus on nineteenth century issues, beginning with the 1855 4s. blue, with fourteen used examples and three covers, almost all four margin stamps and neatly-cancelled, with c.d.s., numeral, or grid cancels, including the scarcer 10-bar type, followed by a study of 1856-7 Oscar I issues, with seven or more examples of each denomination, as well as a few covers, including an attractive 2s pair on inland cover; the 1863 Arms issues similarly well-represented, including five used examples of the 2s yellow, one additional used on piece with 4s, an examination of the eight types of the 1863/4 4s blue, four used singles of the difficult 3s gray lilac, and covers including an 1863 8s single franking to Italy; the subsequent 1867-8 Typographed issues with a comparable used selection as well as several select covers with both single and multiple frankings;1872-5 Post Horn & Crown and subsequent printings with extensive arrays of colour shades, noting 1884 12o green, as well as a number of choice covers, including mixed frankings and an 1875 1s yellow green strip of three on cover showing the “E.EN” variety, the overall selection being carefully-chosen noting a range of shades and postmarks, chiefly well-centered, neatly-cancelled, and with fresh, bright colours, the second album continues with equally fine examples to 1970, complemented by roughly a few dozen covers, an in-depth collection, some small faults to be expected but typically of a quality superior to that which is most often encountered, meriting close inspection; multiple certificates accompany.
