3 d. red with clear to wide margins, tiny scissors cut at lower left just touching the frame, in combination with perforated 3 d. red, both tied by numeral "20" to envelope with adjacent clear "MELBOURNE L.C. AP 4 1859" to Craftsbury, Vermont, showing on reverse fine strike of grand trunk railway marking. A very fine and rare franking; only one other cover is recorded with a combination of imperforated and perforated Pence issue (this here being the finer one) Provenance: W.E.
