1852/57, machine-made medium to thick wove paper: ½ d. deep rose, horizontal pair, at top slightly cut-into resp. touched, otherwise clear to wide margins, tied by numeral "21" to soldier's-cover with adjacent clear "MONTREAL SP 29 1857" to Ireland with transit mark of Quebec on reverse, on front clear "PKT. LETTER PAID LIVERPOOL"; the cover open at 2½ sides with tear at front right.
