1855: Cover from Paris addressed to a sailor on board the French Corvette 'Constantine' at Macau, endorsed 'par Marseille, l'istmus de Suez' in manuscript, franked by 1853 20 c. blue (five examples) overlapping three sides of the envelope and all intact, tied by large 'roulette de gros points' in black. Paris cds of despatch (Nov 23) on front and '1/-' British charge in manuscript alongside. Reverse with faint Hong Kong datestamp of receipt in black. An unusual destination.
