The Transatlantica went bankrupt at the end of 1857. The packet Italia therefore left Rio secretly and carried the mail out of the expired postal convention with the Sardinian Kingdom. This was the last journey of the Transatlantica. The "Corriere Mercantile" of 19/02/58 reports the departure from Rio of the ship Italia, but no longer the nahme of the company
