"ARMY POST OFFICE SZ44 / 8 FE 18" (Jerusalem), good strike on envelope (several folds at right and reverse flap missing) to Cairo with adjacent "PASSED CENSOR 6". In Cairo the cover was taxed in error and vertical pair postage due 1889, 1 pia. blue applied, cancelled by Cairo cds.; an unusual item

"ARMY POST OFFICE SZ44 / 10 FE 18", on envelope to Alexandria with adjacent flag censor cachet; though it was the last day of free civilian mail, the cover was not accepted in Alexandria and postage due 1 pia. blue applied on reverse, cancelled by Alexandria cds.; 6 such covers recorded by Firebrace
