HAWAII: 1861, vollständiger Faltbrief mit Leitvermerk "per Westindia Steamer" via Southampton, mit sauber aufgesetztem Ra2 "Bremen1 6 * 5-6" und nebengesetztem L1 "FRANCO" sowie rotem Transit-EKr. "SAN FRANCISCO JUL 14 1861" sowie Weiterfranco-Vermerk „2/8“ (2 Shilling, 8 Pence“) in roter Tinte. Der Brief war zunächst an den Forwarder Iken in San Francisco adressiert, da ein Weitertransport nur mit Privatschiffen gegen 3 Cents Ship-Fee möglich war. Der vom Absender gewählte Leitweg war der teuerste der drei möglichen Wege; das Gesamt-Franko betrug 68 Bremer Grote (= 31 Silbergroschen). Der Brief war mit  "11" Silbergroschen Weiterfranko in blauer Tinte zunächst für die Beförderung per Prussian-Closed-Mail vorgesehen, wurde dann aber über Southampton nach St. Thomas und anschließend mit der "Tamar" nach Chile spendiert, von wo er mit dem amerikanischen Postschiff "Golden Gate" am 14. Juli nach San Francisco gelangte und dann - nach 80 Tagen (um die halbe Welt) - am 19. August in Hawaii ankam. Ein sehr ansprechender Brief mit seltener Destination

Letter carried on Pacific Mail Steamship Company steamer "Panama" to Panama City and U.S. Mail Steamship Company steamer "Georgia" from Chagres to New York. U.S. debit to Bremen included 40c inland fee from West Coast and 24c treaty rate from New York to Bremen. Postage due in Bremen was 64 grote or 64c.
