SYRIA: 1921, cover to Haleb franked with OMF Syria surcharged 1pi on 5c and strip of five 2pi on 25c French stamps tied by negative seals and "Poste par Avion" bi-lingual cachet. Apparently this cachet used for the flights during a temporary shortage of airmail stamps. Also 1923, cover Damas to Alexandrette franked with set of "Poste Par Avion" surcharged French stamps. (2)

1815, "RINGSEND/PENNY POST", good strike on entire letter addressed to a staff member at the House of Commons in Westminster, taxed in manuscript with "1/3", which was cancelled in London and boxed "TO PAY 1 D ONLY" applied on front, also large "1"; the entire with small tear at top, otherwise fine; a very scarce letter
