1899, Second "Trident" Issue, the 1gr rose, Imperf Sheet of 32 stamps, the third and seventh vertical rows with the dot between the S and I of Grosion variety, sheet was folded in four along the middle rows, reinforced with tape on the back, a crease on the right just into the upper right corner stamp. Note in Schmitt's handwriting describes this as a proof. Very rare, the first we have seen.
"AGIOS GALINIS" full violet straightline cancel on cover franked with 1899, 1m green and 2m black, mailed to Rethymnon, some folds and normal wear and tear, superb strike of this difficult cancel.
Almost complete collection of Russian straightline cancels (only "Margaritais" missing) on 56 singles, pairs and a block of the 1899 Handstamped Issue, noted a 1m blue type I with "MELAMBES," a 1m green single with a "DAMASTA," and a block of four with "SELIA," a pair of 2m black without control (unlisted as such) with "ANOGEIA," a single with "FODELE," and another single with "DAMASTA," and numerous others; lot contains only one "RETHYMNON". Very fine, difficult to assemble, most are clear and in most cases full strikes.
"GARAZO" full black straightline tying an 1899, 2m. black on two similar covers to Rethymnon, clean, with very fine strikes.
"MELAMBES" full black straightline tying an 1899, 2m. red on cover (reduced at right) to Rethymnon. A rare cancel on a scarce stamp. Very Fine

"RETHYMNON" full straightline in blue tying an 1899, 1m blue Trident on cover to Roustika (reduced at right) and "RETHYMNON" cds in black on two different covers sent to the same recipient in Pigi; first tying an 1899, 1m & 2m orange Trident and a second tying an 1899, 1gr yellow Trident. Nice and useful.
"ROUSTIKA" full straightline cancel in blue on pair of 1899, 1m blue Trident with Stars on cover to Rethymnon; two covers, both mailed from Rethymnon to Pigi, one franked with a single each of 1899, 1m rose imperf at right (listed in Hellas) & 2m blue Trident with Stars and the other with a single 1gr rose. Overall very fine and one with a scarce perforation error on cover.
"SPILI" full black straightline on two covers to Rethymnon. First ties pair of 1899, 1m green, the second a sheet selvage copy of 2m black. Some creasing and normal wear & tear, very fine strikes of this scarce cancel.
REFUGEES MAIL: 1921, Lemnos: 3 philatelic covers with surcharged stamps (philatelic issue for the financial aid of the Russian refugees), all tied with large cds "RUSSKAYA POST LEMNOS"
AEGEAN ISLANDS: Chios 1876: "SAKIZ" blue octogonal pmk tying a 2pi 1868 on large envelope sent to "BACHTCHE CAPUSSI 7.Ja.76" tying a 1pi local stamp. Very interesting and rare mixed franking, rated RR by Agaogullari
Chios 1886: "SAKIZ" oily brown octagonal pmk tying a 20pa 1884 on envelope, and a cds "CHIO Turquie 17.Mars.1886" sent to Ayvalik (Kydonies). Both pmks are rated RR by Agaogullari
Chios 1908: "CHIO 5.7.908" cds tying a 20pa 1908 on underpaid envelope, with oval "T" marking and 1pi postage due 1908 tied with "CONS-PLE GALATA Arrivée 8.Juil.1908", very rare and desirable
Chios island 1895/1912: 19 items, postmarked with "CHIO" (x9), "CHIO 1" (x4) and "CHIO 2" (x5) cds. Two of them sent as registered and one as "Assuré". Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included are two copies of the octagonal "SAKIZ Vapur Choubesi". Very interesting
Volissos 1910: "VOLISO (CHIO) 23.12.910" violet cds tying a 20pa 1909 on envelope (reduced at left), sent to "Pera" via "CHIO 2 5.1.11", Rated RRR in Agaogullari
Kalloni 1909: "KALONIA 29.8.909", tying a 20pa 1908, on mourning cover sent to Constantinople. Rated RRR by Agaogullari
Molyvos: "MOLUVA", boxed postmark in old-Turkish, tying a pair of 2pi Empire orange on pale blue 1886, on registered envelope with contents sent to Halep, without any date indication. Rated RR by Agaogullari
Molyvos: "MOLUVA", boxed postmark in old-Turkish, used on two covers as follows: i. tying a pair of 1pi 1892, on registered envelope (without any date indication) and ii. tying a single 1pi 1892 on envelope sent to "Stamboul Arrivée March.15.1897" cds. Rated RR by Agaogullari

Mytilini 1883: "Praktor. Atmoploias Aigaiou P.M.C. & Co en MITYLINI" (Aegean Steamship Navigation P.M.Courdjis & Co) greenish-blue, tying a 20pa 1876, on entire folded letter addressed to Constantinople, very rare and stunning condition

Mytilini Branch 1885: "MIDILLU CHOUBESI 1301", early usage of the negative seal in old-Turkish, tying a 20pa mauve on green 1876, on envelope sent to Chio (addressed to the Greek deputy Roussakis), together with the "METELIN Turquie 24.March.1885" (cds). Rated R by Agaogullari
Plomari 1874: "PELMAR CHUBESI 1289", oily green negative seal on entire folded letter (dateline in Greek "Potamos 12 January 1874" = Plomarion/Pilmar) sent to Mytilini. Number 266 of the Hadjigiannakis archive. Unrecorded and probably unique in very fine condition (small tear at left)
Plomari 1909: "PELMAR Jan.1", tying a 20pa 1901, on envelope sent to Adalia via "SMYRNE". Rated RRR by Agaogullari -corner torn
Myrina 1886: "LEMNOS April.20", bilingual cds tying a pair of 10pa 1884 (perf. 11½) on cover sent to "STAMBOUL" (cds in blue). Not rated on cover by Agaogullari, very rare
Lesvos & Lemnos islands 1880s/1910: 17 items, postmarked with "MIDILLI Choubesi" (negative seal, x3), "METELIN" cds (x7), "MIDILLI TCHARCHOUSOU" pmk (x5), "MOLYVO" cds (x1) and Maritime Agency of Molyvo (x1). Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included are the RRR "MANDAMANDA", "HERSE" (copy shown in Agaogullari), "SIGRI", "AYASU" etc
Samos 1901/09: "SAMOS Nov.18.91" on 20pa postal card, "SAMOS MAR.17.04" on 1pi envelope stationery uprated with 2pi 1901, and "SAMOS 6.8.909" on misdirected postal card sent to Samos instead of Soma. Interesting selection, the cds dated 1891 is rated RR by Agaogullari
Samos & Ikaria 1895/1912: 14 items + 1 unused postcard, postmarked with "SAMOS" cds. Three of them sent as registered. Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included is a copy of the rare "KARIOT", blue cds. Some nice illustrated covers
CRETE: Agios Nikolaos: Official cover sent free of charge, handstamped with the bilingual "Office Sanitaire ST. NICOLAS - CRETE 1881" in greenish-blue, repeated on reverse to seal the flap, scarce and very fine
Canea 1877: "HANYA" oily blue hexagonal postmark in old-Turkish, four superb strikes tying a block of 4x10pa 1875 on large envelope sent to "STAMBOUL 13.Nov.77". Agaogullari type AP04/1. Interesting and impressive item
Canea 1892: "Bureau Telegraphique et Postal KHANYA" black bilingual negative seal, tying a 2pi 1892 on registered envelope, together with "HANIA Nov.15.92" cds sent to Paris 21.11.92 (cds). Not recorded by Agaogullari, but reported in Nicolas & Galinos 85/6, only one cover known
Canea 1897/98, Soldier's mail: Picture postcards (issued by the German spy in Crete, Richard Krüger), both written at Suda Bay. The Ottoman stamps were tied on them with "HANIA" cds, dated "Sep.11.97" and "Mars.7.98" (Blockade of Crete)
Canea 1897, Soldier's mail: 1pi lettercard 1897, with dateline "Kissamo 27.3.97" written in German, canceled with "HANIA 28.Mars.97" cds, sent to "POLA 2.4.97", very scarce origin (Blockade of Crete)
