1862, Liberty 1 peso rose, a fine used example with large even margins all round, tied to 1863 cover to France by oval lozenge of dots in black with circular ‘Buenos Aires / Correos’ (Feb 27) in black above. Carried on RMSP ‘Mersey’ to Rio de Janeiro, where trans-shipped to the RMSP ‘Parana’ to Southampton. Struck in London with ‘GB / 1F 60c.’ Anglo-French accountancy marking in black with London transit (April 6) and arrivals on reverse, where charged ‘8’ décimes due. A scarce and most attractive overseas usage of the issue. Signed Cividini. Certificate E. Diena (1987).
 

1842, Cover, one side flap missing, from Passo to Cachoeira endorsed ‘Vapor Paquete do Norte pelo Rio de Janeiro’ at lower left, struck with oval framed PASSO handstamp in red (the only recorded example of this handstamp). Framed MACEIO transit in red with ‘30’ reis charge, ‘Correio Da Bahia’ cds in black (Sept 17) with 70 reis charge, circular RIO GRANDE datestamp (Oct 13) in black with 110 reis charge and eventual arrival in Cachoeira where charged a total of 150 reis due upon receipt. A rare and most unusual cover.
 

1843 (Feb 18), Entire letter to Cachoeira struck on despatch by framed PASSO handstamp in red (the only recorded example of this handstamp) with manuscript docketing of despatch below; carried overland to MACEIO with faint red handstamp alongside where charged 40 reis, thence via Rio Pardo in Rio Grande State with superb framed handstamp in black, ‘Correio Geral da Corte’ datestamp struck in Rio (March 24) to Porto Alegre (April 29) to Cachoeira where charged a total of 190 reis due to pay with previous charges of 120, 160 and 180 reis deleted in manuscript . A rare and most appealing entire.
 

1862 (May 16), Entire letter to London franked by 1862 10 c. blue tied by oval framed  BOGOTÁ handstamp in black, reverse with British P.P. CARTHAGENA double arc datestamp of transit (June 1) in black. Carried on the RMSP Steamer ‘Avon’ to St. Thomas and thence on the RMSP ‘Shannon’ to Southampton. London cds on reverse in red (June 28) and charged ‘1s.’ to pay in manuscript. The adhesive crossed by file fold and the inside of the cover strengthened to protect the stamp with the cancel slightly embellished; a very rare entire – the earliest recorded usage oft this issue. 1877, Liberty 10 c. brown, a fine example used on 1879 cover to Berne, Switzerland tied by oval BOGOTÁ handstamp in black with British P.O. ‘Savanilla / Barranquilla’ cds of transit at left (July 21) and French Consular ‘Savanilla’ cds alongside (July 22), both struck in black. Circular ‘Ligne D / Paq. Fr. No. 1’ Paquebot datestamp in red on front, struck with triangular ‘T’ marking in black with Switzerland Postage Due 50 c. blue tied in Bern on arrival. A rare cover (Scott 74a)

1918 (2.9.), Small size envelope endorsed "O.A.S." and franked with 2 copies 1917, ½ piaster scarlet, tied by superb strike of "EL-AKABA 2.9.9.116" cds. (as all the other known covers erroneously dated), addressed to Cairo with frontside arrival mark (SEP 12, 1918) and 2 different censor marks on front and reverse. A fine and extremely rare cover, merely a handful of entires are recorded from the city of Aquaba during the Hejaz period. Certificate Todd AIEP (2018) (SG 14)

1963, The Burrus Collection JAPAN, auction catalogue of Kanai Stamp Co. in outstanding fresh condition, accompanied by 'Floor Bid Ticket No. 000537'. A very rare ensemble. The auction catalogue was produced in a numbered edition of only 1,000 pieces. This catalogue is rarely offered today; together with the "Floor Bid Ticket" it is a great rarity.

1870 (Aug), 1 real rose, a fine used example with large margins all round, tied to 1874 entire letter endorsed ‘por Vapor Goya’ (Argentinian Riverboat) to Buenos Aires by circular ‘ASUNCION’ datstamp in blue (Sept 23). Rare and extremely attractive usage. Certificate Moorhouse (2002). (Scott 1)

1860 (DEC 27), Lettersheet franked with 1859, 10 cents green, vertical strip of 3, tied by New Orleans cds., addressed to "Trie" in France, misdirected via Prussian closed mail to Aachen (most likely the address read as "Trier" in Prussia). A red boxed "Aachen franco" was applied and annulated when the mistake was detected and the letter returned to New York with black "N. YORK AM. PKT. 30 / FEB 10" on front. Then it was again sent to France on February 11 with credit '12 cents' and finally arrived on February 26. A most interesting letter which crossed the atlantic three times in 2 months.

1858 (March), Block Letters 120 c. blue, a fine large margined example in a milky shade, used on 1858 cover endorsed ‘pr. Mississippi’ of the River Plate Line from Montevideo to Buenos Ayres (Armstrong correspondence) tied by oval ‘Admon De Correos / Montevideo’ datestamp (Sept 19) in black.  A superb cover, the earliest recorded date of use for the Block Letters issue on cover. 1858 (March), Block Letters 180 c. green, a fine large margined example in a ‘British racing green’ shade, used on 1860 double rate cover endorsed ‘pr. Montevideo’ of the River Plate Line from Montevideo to Buenos Ayres (Armstrong correspondence) tied by oval ‘Admon De Correos / Montevideo’ datestamp (Feb 16) in black.  A superb cover, one of just 5 recorded covers bearing this stamp. 1859, Thin figures 240 c. vermilion, a fine large margined example with portions of adjoining stamp at left, used in combination with 1860 Thick figures 80 c. yellow in a horizontal pair also with large margins all round, on 1862 double rate cover endorsed ‘per Mississippi’ of the River Plate Line to Buenos Ayres, tied by oval ‘Admon De Correos / Montevideo’ datestamps (March 17) in black.  Slight part of flap missing but a superb cover in the foremost exhibition quality. 1858, Barquitos 3 pesos green, wonderful fresh colour and large margins with full framelines on all sides and parts of 2 neighbouring stamps, tied by crisp 'ponchito' cancel to lettersheet with adjacent  "CORREOS DE BUENOS AIRES 3 AGO 58" to Tucuman. A beautiful and fresh entire with one of the best cut examples of this rare stamp, for which a small removed stain at lower right is of absolutely minor importance. 1858, Confederación Argentina 15 centavos blue, nice colour and full to large margins, used on entire letter and tied by clear oval marking "CORREOS NACTIONALES DE SAN JUAN / FRANCA" to Rosario. 1862, Coat of Arms with accent 15 centavos blue, a magnificent example with good to extra large margins and in nice fresh shade, tied by "CORDOBA FRANCA" to lettersheet to Buenos Aires. The entire with some paper breaks in file and flap folds strengthened and small part of the entire with family name repaired. An attractive and scarce franking. 1867/68, Condor 10 centavos brown, 2 single copies in nice fresh colour and with good to very large margins, tied by cds. "CORREOS LA PAZ 16 ENERO" (1868) to entire letter endorsed "Por Vapor" to Arequipa, Peru with Tacna arrival mark on reverse (JAN 22). A very fine and rare letter. 1843, 'Bull's Eye' 60 reis black, intermediate impression, complete pane of 18 stamps from the composite plate in almost flawless condition, nice fresh colour and large margins on all sides with outer framelines at top, right and bottom (so-called semi-xifopagos), lightly cancelled by framed "CIDADE DE NICTHEROY", a tiny nick at top in the outer frameline, far off the stamps mentioned for accuracy only. 1843, 'Bull's Eye' 60 reis black, intermediate impression, nice fresh colour and large even margins, tied by brownish-black straight line "S. JOAO DEL REI" to entire letter, dated June 15, 1844, to Rio de Janeiro. Some very light erosions in the cover without importance. A very fine and attractive letter with a rare cancellation. 1843, 'Bull's Eye' 90 reis black in horizontal pair, intermediate impression together with 60 reis worn impression, all in fresh colour and with good to mostly large margins, used on entire printed commercial letter, tied by cds. "CORREOS GERAL BA CORTE 26/9 1843" and addressed to Cattas Altas in the postal district of Ouro Preto. A marvellous letter with an outstanding combination; just one further letter with similar franking is recorded. Signed Alberto Diena in pencil

1858, Coat of Arms with single-lined margin 1 dinero slate-blue in horizontal strip of 4 with enormous margins on all sides, used on lettersheet from Chiclayo, dated 6 Juin 1858, to Lima, each stamp cancelled by clear central strike of red dotted "CHAICL.". 1858, Double-lined frame 1 dinero slate-blue, worn plate, vertical strip of 4 in nice colour and with large margins on all sides, used on folded letter from Iquique (May 20, 1859) to Lima, endorsed "por Vapor". 1859, Sun Head with thin figures of value: 80 centesimos yellow in deep shade and with large margins, used on lettersheet to Paisandu, tied by superb "ADMON DE CORREOS MONTEVIDEO 19 AUGOSTO 1859".
