REVOLUTION: 1917, November. Registered commercial cover from DRUZKOVKA EKAT(ERINOSLAV) 5 11 17 sent to The Hague. Moscow and, as mail to a neutral country, British censorship. Of significant historical interest for a very long and detailed letter written in French during the early stages of the Bolshevik seizure of power and describing the breakdown of factory discipline, intimidation, drunken street violence, railway and telegraph disruption, and more. Assembly of seven original documents in French and Russian plus three photographed documents from the archive of Sredinsky, the Postmaster, with details of the preparation of the stamps by the printer Yessayan and, notably, a typed document in French which is an attempt to persuade the Allied powers occupying Constantinople to allow the conversion of the existing "Poste Russe" (which used a handstamp) into a stamp-issuing authority. Unique collection.
