1897, 1 pence horizontal pair, paying for the 2 pence interisland postage, together with New South Wales 1888 2 pence blue and 1891 ½ penny slate, all tied by cds. "PORT VILA 22 JUN 97" to cover front to Sydney, some ageing, still fine and attractive usage showing the earliest date recorded from the Hambly correspondence
