PAPAL STATES - TRIESTE: 1869, large size quintuple rate registered envelope from Rome to the Russian consul at Trieste, franked with 6 copies 1867, 80 cmi. on vivid rose and 1868, 10 cmi. on orange, 20 cmi. on red and 40 cmi. on yellow, all tied by grid with adjacent "DIRECTIONE DI ROMA 20 GEN. 69" and french transit mark; on reverse rare oval "RECOMMANDIRT TRIEST 26/4 1869". An outstanding cover with a rare and most attractive 4 colour- 550 cmi.-franking. Certificate Colla (2013) (Sassone 20a+26a,27,29)

PAPAL STATES - TURKISH EMPIRE, 1855, Entire letter from Ancona to Constantinople, entirely prepaid with 1852, 3 bajocchi on brownish and 2 copies 7 bajocchi on blue, tied by cds. "ANCONA 2 AGO. 55" with adjacent blue oval "AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO Ancona"; on reverse rated in red crayon "9" and "8" for the Papal States- and sea postage. Desinfection slits and little unfresh, old fashioned price sticker at upper left. A still fine entire with scarce destination.

PAPAL STATES - AUSTRIA (HUNGARY): 1868, entire letter from Rome to Pest, franked with 1867, 5 cmi. on blue green and 40 cmi. on yellow and 1868, 10 cmi. on orange, tied by diamont of dots with adjacent "ROMA 18 GIU. 68" and french transit mark. The letter was endorsed "Via Triest" but forwarded via France, which was the most common route at that time. A fine entire, singned Emilio Diena.

ITALY - TURKISH EMPIRE (ALBANIA), 1871, Lettersheet from Venice via Trieste and Antivari to Scutari, franked for the distance to Antivari with  1863, 60 cmi. lilac, tied by dotted "196", in Antivari franked for the remaining way with Turkey 1869, 10 paras lilac and postage due 2 pia. with blue all Arabic double circle. The 2 pia. slightly affected by horizontal cover crease, still fine and scarce.
