"GENERAL POST OFFICE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE NO 4 1837", a very fair strike of the crowned oval third dated letterstamp on a folded entire to Graaff-Reinet, endorsed "paid" and "11" with adjacent framed handstamp "POST PAID", both postmarks used at the General Post Office of Cape Town (Goldblatt DLS4, PP2), very fine red seal on the back, small paper holes on the front otherwise fine, a very rare combination of both pre-paid handstamps

1839, entire letter from Cape Town to London, showing on front clear "INDIA LETTER DEAL"

1853, Perkins Bacon 1 d. brick-red on blued paper, used block of four with fresh colours lightly cancelled with CGH obliterator, one stamp slightly touched on one side otherwise good to wide margins, portion of adjoining stamp at top, light horizontal crease not detracting, still very fine, ex Hudson

1863, De La Rue Issue 4d. deep blue as pair, fresh color and close to good margins all around, unused with original gum, fine and attractive

1923, Südafrika König Georg V. 1 ½ Pence im Viererblock mit Stempel "SHIPPING POSTMASTER CAPE TOWN 3 FEB.26.1923" auf R-Vordruckbrief "OCEAN LETTER" der Firma "Radio Communication Co. Ltd." nach Kapstadt mit Ankunftsstempel. Der Umschlag mit senkrechter Faltung und oben verkürzt, trotz der Einschränkungen ein noch feiner Bedarfsbrief und die bisher früheste Verwendung dieser Art in Südafrika

"TSINGTAU KIAUTSCHOU *b 8.7.10" recht klar auf Kaiseryacht 20 Cents ohne Wasserzeichen auf R-Vordruckbrief "AMERICAN CONSULAR SERVICE" mit R-Zettel "Tsingtau (Kiautschou)" (Einfeldt Nr. 10) via Colombo nach Tranvaal. Der Umschlag ist oben etwas verkürzt, sonst in guter Gesamterhaltung. Trotz der Einschränkung ein seltener R-Bedarfsbrief mit seltener Destination Transvaal

1853/93 (ca.), nicely mounted collection with over 100 triangles, including 6 pairs and strip of four, many shades and 5 values of 'wood-block' issue. Usual mixed condition, but many fine/very fine.

1823/1902, two stampless folded entires with circular crowned handstamps, one with further crowned "POST OFFICE CAPE TOWN", both addressed to "His Excellency, Lord Charles Henry Sommerset, Governor", also a postcard to France taxed upon arrival, a fine and most interesting group

1898/1913, more than 20 covers and cards with emphasis until 1902 with R-letters, many censors and other specialties

1900/02, group of Boer War covers, mostly franked with overprinted V.R.I and E.R.I, with single, multiple, registered and combination frankings, censored handstamps, mixed condition

Ireland Military 19th Century: 1800/1902 collection written up on over fifty pages, includes British East India Company, Crimea War, Boer War, comprises mail to and from serving personnel, with wide variety of franked and stampless covers, many scarce markings and destinations, many Irish postmarks, noted 1855 green Dublin duplex on envelope to Crimea, in addition many individual documents, also mail from or to USA, Canada, Germany delivery mail, German Navy mail from the Marinepostbureau to Ireland, extremely rare, a Gold medal exhibit.
