1858, 30 kopeck carmine & green, thin paper, nice fresh colour and well centered, with intact perforations on all sides, tied by pen cross to triple rate envelope with reverse side dispatch mark "SERPEYSK" (a small village in Kaluga Province), to St. Petersburg, with arrival mark of May 15, 1858. The envelope with usual transportation marks. A great rarity; just 9 single frankings of this stamp have been recorded, this being the only one with manuscript cancellation. Certificate Citerne BPP (2026)

Provenance: Liphschutz  Paolo Bianchi (Investphila 2008)

Note: In the 1920s a pencrossed No. 1 was fraudulently added to create a unique mixed franking. This stamp was now removed to put the cover back in it's original state of conservation. (corresponding certificate Mikulski, 1995)
