Development and Operations (1911-1942)
Years of extensive research and the evaluation of correspondence and documents have resulted in a comprehensive guide to the development of air mail services in India. The author recounts its history from the world’s first air mail service in 1911 from Allahabad to Naini to the beginning of the Second World War. The development of Indian air mail stamps and aerogrammes is also treated in detail, as are Indian Zeppelin posts and contemporary airmail vignettes and labels. A detailed list of air mail postmarks and cachets that were used makes this work an essential guide for air mail collectors. Many of the covers shown are from the collection of the author which was awarded five Large Gold medals, also Gold at CHICAGOPEX in 2004.
