PRINCIPALITY: 1878, Coat of Arms 1pi blue in horizontal pair from lower part of the sheet (with straightedges at bottom as always), mint original gum, never hinged, excellent centering and great perforation, gum staining on the face is common, very rare  

RUSSIAN OCCUPATION: Coat of arms 1rbl. two imperforated horizontal pairs tied by cds. "KORSOVKA LATVIA 10 1 20" to reverse of registered cover to the Army Front, correctly franked 4 rubels according to the RSFSR tariff of 5 November 1919. Notable for good strikes front and back of the rare Cyrillic cancel KORSOVKA LATVIA “a” 10 1 20 [von Hofmann 121.1], one of the few new cancellations prepared by the Latvian Soviet regime with the word “Latvia” included. 1865: 10 c. violet, a fine sheet marginal example in a bright shade, used with vertically bisected example on January 19, 1866 entire letter to Bogotá to pay the 15 centavos rate (addressed to Froilan Largacha, President of Colombia and later Secretary of the Treasury under General Mosquera), neatly cancelled by 'Santander' manuscript cancellation. 9 Kreuzer auf gelb, waagerechtes Paar aus der linken oberen Bogenecke, allseits breit-bis überrandig mit Teilen von 4 Nachbarmarken, oben und links mit ca. 9/11 mm Bogenrand, mit klar aufgesetzter Nr. 1924, National Theater 70 m. imperforated proof with right sheet margin, carmine, mint never hinged (Hurt/Ojaste G1)

1860, 9 Kreuzer dunkelkarmin auf dickem Papier, 4er-Block und Einzelmarke, farbfrisch und überwiegend gut gezähnt mit Doppelkreisstempel "STUTTGART 20 OCT. 1860" auf Faltbrief nach New York, befördert über die 'Prussian Closed Mail' mit teils übergehendem Transitstempel von Aachen und New Yorker Landungsstempel. Der 4er-Block ist senkrecht durch Brieffaltungen betroffen, die teils gebrochene Papierstruktur wurde restauriert, das Briefpapier in den Faltungen teils etwas brüchig. Der 4er-Block stellt eine bedeutende Neuentdeckung für die Württemberg-Philatelie dar; dieses Stück wurde mehrfach als 19ya angeboten und geprüft, diese ist jedoch erstmals im August 1861 belegt. Ein attraktiver Transatlantik-Brief mit der größten bekannten Einheit dieser sehr seltenen Marke. Signiert Thoma BPP und Fotoattest Heinrich BPP (2021) Provenienz: 110. SANTA MARTA cds (July 29) in black on reverse. British P.O. PANAMA double arc cds of transit (Feb 5) on front in black. A marvellous and most attractive combination cover, the 'Sobreporte' 25 c. covered the cost of the additional stamps needed from the British Post Office for onward transmission.
