Postal service performed by the transatlantic company subsidized by the Sardinian government. Only 11 trips were made, from August 20th 1856 to November 12th 1857. The ships called at the ports of Genoa, Marseille, Malaga, Lisboa, Sta. Cruz de Tenerife, Madeira, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and arrived in Buenos Aires. When they arrived in Genoa the boxed "Vapori transatl." was applied. 1856, folded lettersheet with rare blue cds. "BUENOS AYRES 15 DIC 56" of the sardian agency addressed to Bordeaux, first transported by ship "Sardegna" to Rio and then transshipped onto the "Torino", superb strike of boxed "Vapori transatl." applied upon arrival in Genoa, minor faults on reverse, a rare and fine entire, certificate E. Coat of arms 8 S., proof corner block of twelve, thick paper, printing order number "Tell No.20, III-32a", hand-written in ink, precursor of the printed printing order numbers, which started with the 4 S. Päts in 1936. March 1932 was the order date of the 8 S. coat of arms on thick paper. The hand-written order date does not indicate the exact day, only month and year, in contrast to the printed order dates starting with the Päts 4 S. Two thick marginal bars in the color of the stamp and the network. Exceptional proofs showing the origin of the printed printing order numbers, mint never hinged, fine (Hurt/Ojaste G:3)  

2d. blue, plate 3, MA/NB, block of four with with large regular margins all round and full deckle edge sheet margin on the left with inscription, unused with large part original gum (slight diagonal gum crease not visible on front), very fresh and attractive multiple. (S.G.Cat. GBP 35.000)
