1/2 d. rose, plate 1, variety Imperforate, horizontal pair SW-SX with inverted watermark, large margins all round, large part or full original gum, very fresh and rare. According to J.B.Seymour in the Kohl Handbook (1930), a part perforated sheet was released having two rows completely imperforate. Assembly of seven original documents in French and Russian plus three photographed documents from the archive of Sredinsky, the Postmaster, with details of the preparation of the stamps by the printer Yessayan and, notably, a typed document in French which is an attempt to persuade the Allied powers occupying Constantinople to allow the conversion of the existing "Poste Russe" (which used a handstamp) into a stamp-issuing authority. Unique collection.
