1875/78, 1 shilling vermilion, perforated 11 to 12½:15, nice fresh colour, tied by accountancy mark "GB/40 c" to mourning cover with adjacent "ST. VINCENT FE 23 79" to Sussex with arrival mark; part of back-flap missing, otherwise fine; an attractive and scarce entire, certificate BPA (2010).
APIA MUNICIPAL POST OFFICE, 1882-86: "APIA MAY 25" cds. on cover franked with US 1882 Garfield 5 c. cancelled with cork, addressed to "Herrn Hopath Stuebel" in Dresden, readdressed locally, adjacent red "SHIP" on front, reverse with transit and arrival mark, the front also shows "No. 12" of the sort usually connected with sequential letters in a correspondence, fine and very scarce  (Odenweller MPO 1).
NEW ZEALAND OCCUPATION, GRI: 1914, ½d-3 s., each tied by favour cds. "APIA 10.11.14" to cover, 5d. with overprint variety "missing stop after I", not listed in SG, cover folded once and backflap missing, otherwise fine, certificates Kilian and Holcombe.
1 shillings on 1 m. with overprint variety "broken stop after I", unused, very fine, signed Hofmann-Giesecke and Holcombe and certificate BPA (Michel.-Nr. 10I PF I).
1912/21, George V £ 5 orange and green, unused o.g., very fine and fresh.

1900: Stampless cover endorsed at lower left 'No Stamps. Active Service / R. Baden-Powell Maj. Gen.' addressed to a Mr. J. Figorski, Razor Strap Manufacturer in Sheffield, England; struck with RUSTENBURG squared circle datestamp in black of despatch (June 27). Two line PASSED / CENSOR in black and counter-signed below by 'H. Nicholson, Col.' in red ink. London 'Paid' arrival cds on front (July 27) in red. Flap missing on reverse and slight corner crumple to cover at left but extremely rare, Baden-Powell occupied Rustenburg from June 15, 1900.
Note: The letter (not with the lot) was sold at Christies in June, 1993, written on June 25 from Camp Rustenburg to J. Figorski thanking him foir a present of a razor strap - 'and am very proud to have so useful an article dedicated to me - in recognition I presume of my attempts to blunt the keeness of the Boers'.

1900: Siege of Mafeking cover mailed to 'Trooper J. S. Bennett, C Troop, D Squadron, Protectorate Regiment, B.S.A. Fort, Mafeking', franked by April 1900 Goodyear 1 d. deep blue on blue (Plate II, position 4) and Baden-Powell small format 3 d. pale blue on blue tied by MAFEKING / C.G.H. datestamps (May 9) in black. An exceptional Mafeking Siege cover with just three covers known bearing both of these famous adhesives issued during the Siege. Cert. Phil. Soc. of South Africa (2013).
10 pf. with overprint inverted together with 3 pf.-40 pf., 80 pf. and 1d. on 5 pf., all cancelled "LOMEÂ 22.10.14" on cover addressed to Rhyl; some of the normal values with small faults, the variety in fine condition; an attractive and rare entire, signed Bloch, certificates RPS (1971) and BPAÂ (2014).
Wide setting, lines 3 mm apart, 50 pf. black and purple on buff neatly cancelled by "LOMEÂ 14.9.14"; a fine copy of this scarce stamp, several signatures, certificates RPSÂ (1984) and BPAÂ (1938 and 2014).
1 m. carmine, type 1, pos. 18 with small part of lower sheet margin, cancelled "LOME TOGOGEBIET 17.9.14", fine and scarce, signed Holcombe with certificate and certificate BPA (2014).

1915, 'Anglo-French' 15 mm: 50 pf. black and purple on buff, tied by clear cds. "LOME 7.1.15" to piece; a superb copy of this rare stamp of which 19 examples were overprinted and Gibbs had recorded only 7 used examples; several signatures and certificates Luder and Co., Hans Grobe and BPA (1937 and 2014).
1852, First lithographed issue, fine impression, 1 d. blue with good to large margins, tied by light "1" in bars to entire letter to Greenock with transit and arrival marks; one of the best and most attractive entires with this rare stamp; signed Calves and certificate RPS (1979).
1862/63, Britannia 1 d. lake, perf. 13, tied by numeral "1" of Port of Spain to letter- sheet (side flaps missing) endorsed "Prices current" with adjacent red crowned circle "PAID AT TRINIDAD" to Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, here franked for internal postage with Spanish West Indies 1855/57, ½ r. greenish blue, tied by oval cancel; the spanish stamp fixed a long vertical internal crease, otherwise fine; a very rare and unusual combination, certificate BPA (2002). 1869, 5 shilling rose-lake with 1863/80, perf. 12½ 1 shilling mauve, vertical pair and single and pair 1 d. carmine, tied by cds. "TRINIDAD MR 10 1872" to large size envelope via London to France, showing red crayon 7/-; envelope and stamps with some faults, the 5 shilling in quite good condition; a unique franking of the high value

(1929), "TRISTANÂ DAÂ CUNHA", violet double-ringed cachet in Type V but without break in the inner ring, clear strike on 2 copies GB 1924, 1 d. scarlet and alongside on undated cover addressed to Dublin; one stamp missing corner and envelope vertical fold well off the franking; the type without break is very rare, only few covers known; certificate RPS (2011).
1935, Dutch Submarine KXVIII mail: "TRISTANÂ DAÂ CUNHA", type V in blue on envelope with adjacent cachet "Met Hr.Ms.K XVIII Vervoerd van Tristan da Cunha Naar Kaapstad", "CAPEÂ TOWNÂ PAQUETBOT 2-APR.35" and violet "K.L.M.Curacao - 8 MEI 1935" to Den Haag; central vertical fold; a fine and very rare cover.
OTTOMAN POST OFFICES: 1868, 20 pa. green horizontal pair, tied by double-ringed arabic "SCUTARI" (Coles & Walker fig. 3) to folded lettersheet via Triest to Venezia, upon arrival taxed with Italy postage due 1869 10 c. and 1870 60 c., 60 c. postage due small corner fault, address partly erased, otherwise fine, rare.
1935/43, 1 p. slate without control number on reverse, imperforated block of 40, unused, as usual without gum, a very rare multiple, certificate Comex (2015); Edifil 41s; € 120.000,-, Scott 34A var.

1858, coat of arms 5 c. blue with good two wide margins, used on entire letter form Villa Nueva 10.2.1860 to Rosario; the upper right corner of the stamp little blunt, not affecting the overall very fine impression; a rare entire, only 5 covers with this stamp are recorded, certificate Moorhouse. 1850/54, First issue 2 kr. on machine made meshed paper, type IIIa, block of 4, large margins all around, cancelled pairwise by 2 strikes of boxed "WIEN 22 MAER."; pre-cut between stamps at left not touching the design, otherwise very fine, a scarce multiple
9 kr. blue with large margins all around, tied by cds. "TRIEST 10/3" (1858) to part-paid letter sheet via the Roman states to Naples in the Kingdom of Sicily, The 9 kreuzer paid the distance up to the border of the Roman states, cover backstamped "Transito per lo Stato Ponteficio", the remaining postage of "29" (grana) marked in manuscript on front to be collected from the recipient, adjacent red "AGDP" of Naples. A very scarce and attractive part-paid entire.
1850/54, machine-made paper 9 kr. blue with good to large margins, tied by black date stamp "WIEN 27/11" to letter sheet with part of the contents to Calcutta, India, showing on reverse transit mark of Triest, blue transit mark of Alexandria and "CALCUTTA STEAM LETTER bearing" with adjacent manuscript "A8"; the cover was paid until Triest with the 9 krezer stamp for the German Postal Union fee and with additional 9 kreuzer in cash for the sea postage to Alexandria; the remaining postage for the route beyond Alexandria of 8 anas = 1 shilling had to be paid by the recipient; some toning, otherwise fine. One of only 3 first issue letters known to India. A remarkable item; certificate Prof. Ferchenbauer VÖB (2009).
