1852, (Nov 24) folded letter dated "Thüringen 24 Novem. 1852", endorsed "fr. Bremen" and franked with Austria 1850 Coat of Arms 9kr. blue, fresh colour and good margins, tied by two-line "BLUDENZ 27 NOV", addressed to Belleville, Illinois. Upon arrival in Bremen boxed "Paid to Bremen" applied and via "Closed Mail" to New York, the exchange office weighed the letter and charged as double-letter with "NEW YORK 40 JAN 4", a very rare and attractive letter being to our knowledge the earliest franked cover from Austria to the United States
