1938/97, good collection souvenir sheets with more than 90 covers, containing many registered, special cancellations, better thematics, better items like Mi.-Nr. Bl. 1(3) and Bl. 4B, good condition
1852/48, used and unused , partly specialized collection with some better items, all neatly written up on pages, mostly good condition
1855-1970, a comprehensive used collection in two albums, neatly-mounted and annotated, with a focus on nineteenth century issues, beginning with the 1855 4s. blue, with fourteen used examples and three covers, almost all four margin stamps and neatly-cancelled, with c.d.s., numeral, or grid cancels, including the scarcer 10-bar type, followed by a study of 1856-7 Oscar I issues, with seven or more examples of each denomination, as well as a few covers, including an attractive 2s pair on inland cover; the 1863 Arms issues similarly well-represented, including five used examples of the 2s yellow, one additional used on piece with 4s, an examination of the eight types of the 1863/4 4s blue, four used singles of the difficult 3s gray lilac, and covers including an 1863 8s single franking to Italy; the subsequent 1867-8 Typographed issues with a comparable used selection as well as several select covers with both single and multiple frankings;1872-5 Post Horn & Crown and subsequent printings with extensive arrays of colour shades, noting 1884 12o green, as well as a number of choice covers, including mixed frankings and an 1875 1s yellow green strip of three on cover showing the “E.EN” variety, the overall selection being carefully-chosen noting a range of shades and postmarks, chiefly well-centered, neatly-cancelled, and with fresh, bright colours, the second album continues with equally fine examples to 1970, complemented by roughly a few dozen covers, an in-depth collection, some small faults to be expected but typically of a quality superior to that which is most often encountered, meriting close inspection; multiple certificates accompany.
1855, 4s. blue, group of ten used single and a used pair, each with four large to very large margins all around, three with town cancels of Bergen, Christiania, and Frederikstad respectively, the latter tied to piece, three singles and the pair with neatly-struck circular grid cancels, and four with numeral cancels, including of Kragero, Sandefjord, and Stavanger, pleasing variation in shades, the odd occasional small flaw, the pair with vertical crease through centre margin, else most attractive and chiefly very fine; two certificates accompany. 1855/1980s, carton with several stockbooks and a small box, largely used but includes one stockbook of mint duplicates, this chiefly 1940s/60s, used begins with five 1855 4s blue, dozens of 1856-6 Oscar I, with some better including three 3s yellow, Coat of Arms including three 1863 3s grey, four 1867-8 3d dull lilac, duplication of the various printings of the Crown & Post Horn definitive, subsequent stockbooks with collector's duplicates of both definitive and commemorative issues, including officials and other back-of-the-book material, local posts, etc, small box of duplicated definitive issues in glassines, useful literature including Handbuch Uber Die Norwegischen Briefmarken (Vol I/II) and Handbok Over Norske Filatelistika, varied condition, with many thousands of stamps, ideal for the specialist.
1855/68, small group of better used, with 1855 1s. blue cancelled with Jupiter c.d.s., 1856-7 Oscar I 2s yellow with choice "48" numeral cancel of Drammen, four 3s. lilac singles, three which clear c.d.s. cancels, one with crisp "2" numeral cancel, 8s dull lake in horizontal strips of three and four, and 1868 3s dull lilac strip of three tied to piece by Bergen c.d.s., the occasional small flaw but chiefly fine and of pleasing appearance. 1857/1929, used selection of several hundred stamps on leaves, beginning with 1856 “Oscar I.”, 2 sk. orange-yellow cancelled by “183” barred numeral and brown manuscript ink, a selection of 10 sk. blue with several neat cancellations as well as two manuscript ink crosses, followed by broad selections of the subsequent issues, usually with some emphasis on shades of colour. Mixed condition.
1855/69, small group of covers, with 1855 1s. blue horizontal pair on cover from Sarpsborg to Christiania, 1857 3s. lilac strip of five on small cover from Christiania to Copenhagen (one adhesive creased due to being affixed over edge of cover), 1857 2s. yellow single franking on 1865 cover; 1863 and 1867-8 Coat of Arms mixed franking on piece and cover front, and scarce 1863 24s brown single franking on cover from Bergen to Copenhagen (stained and creases), variously flawed, but a scarce group; four certificates accompany.
1880s-1950s, collection of over 120 covers in two albums, with a range of useful material, noting among the earlier items 25o lilac Coat of Arms single franking on 1882 cover to Philadelphia, and fine 1s black single franking on printed circular, range of Post Horn & Crown frankings including paquebot, advertising, North Pole Mail,postal stationery, etc, several 1930s airmail and first flight covers, 1940s/50s registered covers with attractive philatelic frankings, etc, some with small faults but chiefly fresh and attractive.
1920s/1970s, carton filled with many hundreds of covers, some First Day Covers but largely commercial mail with a wide range of frankings, noting registered, postal stationery, Antarctic Expedition, Europa frankings, picture postcards, etc, condition varies but typically sound and quite diverse.
1824/1918, Austrian Period, fine used collection with covers (33), incl. Newspaper and Postage Due stamps, many interesting items and usages, starting with some prephilatelic entires, a fine selection of cancellations on the early issues with many clear strikes “NARAJÓW”, “PRZEMYSL”, “DUKLA", TYSMIENITZ"(TYSMIENICA), “STRYJ”, etc., Mi.-Nr. 23, money letters, airmails. Feldpost with a selection of “K.u.K. ETAPPENPOSTAMT” handstamps, parcel cards, some combination frankings, censor marks, etc. Mostly in fine and fresh condition, neatly mounted on album leaves
1858/1913, used collection with over 120 covers, incl. a fine part of Russia Used in Poland, strength before the 1880s, many interesting and better items starting with a fine selection of Poland Mi.-Nr. 1(15) used with “1” WARSAW, “282” KIBARTY, “Dot in Circles” from TPO, Hexagonal Dotted “16”, etc., 1859 1½ k. Postal Stationery envelope with Kurmanowicz and Bobinski signatures on the inside flap, the collection follows with a good part of Polish numeral cancellations on Russia with Mi.-Nr. 2 used, lots of numeral cancels up to the 30 kopek, some multiples and combination frankings, incoming mail and foreign destinations, interesting usages, transit postmarks, money orders and railway mail, together with a couple of stampless entires. Mixed condition, a great lot in two albums
1860/1965, extensive mint never hinged/unused and used collection with covers, incl. Postage Dues, Polish Levant and Local Posts, strength before the 1940s, highly specialized with plates numbers and flaws, printing varieties, inverted overprints, shades, duplicates and large multiples, many better items, starting with Mi.-Nr. 1 used, the collection follows with the Warsaw, Lublin and Krakow issues, Mi.-Nr. 135(4), 136(4), Bl.11, many better sets like Mi.-Nr. 213-223, 213U-223U cpl. set, a superb group of local posts with an abundance of covers, Tarnów, Przedbórz, Sosnowiec, Zawercie, Zarki (9, all signed Mikulski), Warsaw 1915 issue with proofs and printer´s wastes, Polish Corps Mi.-Nr. 1-11, General Government with sheetlets (2), a great number of covers with many interesting usages, military censorship, Polish-Russian War 1919-1921, Polish Legion mail, together with a fine choice of cancellations with many clear strikes on pieces, etc. some forgeries noted. REVENUES: 1896/1901 (ca), unused and used group of “CONTRIBUICAO INDUSTRIAL”, some duplicates and large multiples, mixed condition
1773/1875, interesting pre-philately collection beginning with some 18th century items and early origin- and rate-markings including “LISBOA” straightline on 1802 folded letter to Bordeaux or British P.O. “LISBON” straightline on 1825 entire to Dartmouth. There follows a strong ship mail section with early items from Great Britain (1811) and New York (1812), an 1852 entire from Bahia “por Vapor Pay” to Chaves struck with oval “LEY DE 2…50 / 10 R.s” in brown ink and rated “240” in blue, 1848 entire from Gibraltar to Lisbon with framed blue “P. BRIT”, six items from Brazil including items with oval “C. Est. de N.” (Cartas Estrangeiras de Navios) in blue and an 1851 disinfected entire from Rio to Santa Martha de Boulo. Later some 25 pre-1900 frankings from first issue and incoming mail including Great Britain, 1873 1s. deep green (SG 44) on folded letter from Newcastle “via France” to Lisbon, as well as some modern material and literature. An collection in good condition.
1939/2003, good collection souvenir sheets with more than 240 covers, containing many registered, express, special cancellations, better thematics, better items like Mi.-Nr. Bl. 1, 3, 4(2), 8 and 12-13, good condition
1870/1950 (ca.), enormous unused/used postal stationery collection of some five to six thousand items including mainland Portugal from the early issues (Don Carlos, Don Manuel, Mouchon and Ceres) and a large amount of twentieth century items, many with additional frankings, a strong section of Christmas stats, some of which with illustrations or advertisements. Also rare official stats including additional beneficencia printed stamps. Further the islands Azores, Horta, Funchal and Madeira all extensively represented with better items, strong sections of Macao and Timor including nice used items, Hong Kong usages, transit and additional frankings, Afican Colonies with Angola, S. Thome, Guinea and Mozambique incl. Mozambique Co., Nyassa etc., these very complete from early on including good used items, some with additional frankings. A few uncommon proofs or essays round off the collection. A lifetimes effort, sorted by Higgins and Gage in seven boxes and five binders. Good general condition.
