Plomari 1874: "PELMAR CHUBESI 1289", oily green negative seal on entire folded letter (dateline in Greek "Potamos 12 January 1874" = Plomarion/Pilmar) sent to Mytilini. Number 266 of the Hadjigiannakis archive. Unrecorded and probably unique in very fine condition (small tear at left)

Plomari 1909: "PELMAR Jan.1", tying a 20pa 1901, on envelope sent to Adalia via "SMYRNE". Rated RRR by Agaogullari -corner torn

Myrina 1886: "LEMNOS April.20", bilingual cds tying a pair of 10pa 1884 (perf. 11½) on cover sent to "STAMBOUL" (cds in blue). Not rated on cover by Agaogullari, very rare

Lesvos & Lemnos islands 1880s/1910: 17 items, postmarked with "MIDILLI Choubesi" (negative seal, x3), "METELIN" cds (x7), "MIDILLI TCHARCHOUSOU" pmk (x5), "MOLYVO" cds (x1) and Maritime Agency of Molyvo (x1). Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included are the RRR "MANDAMANDA", "HERSE" (copy shown in Agaogullari), "SIGRI", "AYASU" etc

Samos 1901/09: "SAMOS Nov.18.91" on 20pa postal card, "SAMOS MAR.17.04" on 1pi envelope stationery uprated with 2pi 1901, and "SAMOS 6.8.909" on misdirected postal card sent to Samos instead of Soma. Interesting selection, the cds dated 1891 is rated RR by Agaogullari

Samos & Ikaria 1895/1912: 14 items + 1 unused postcard, postmarked with "SAMOS" cds. Three of them sent as registered. Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included is a copy of the rare "KARIOT", blue cds. Some nice illustrated covers

CRETE: Agios Nikolaos: Official cover sent free of charge, handstamped with the bilingual "Office Sanitaire ST. NICOLAS - CRETE 1881" in greenish-blue, repeated on reverse to seal the flap, scarce and very fine

Canea 1877: "HANYA" oily blue hexagonal postmark in old-Turkish, four superb strikes tying a block of 4x10pa 1875 on large envelope sent to "STAMBOUL 13.Nov.77". Agaogullari type AP04/1. Interesting and impressive item

Canea 1892: "Bureau Telegraphique et Postal KHANYA" black bilingual negative seal, tying a 2pi 1892 on registered envelope, together with "HANIA Nov.15.92" cds sent to Paris 21.11.92 (cds). Not recorded by Agaogullari, but reported in Nicolas & Galinos 85/6, only one cover known

Canea 1897/98, Soldier's mail: Picture postcards (issued by the German spy in Crete, Richard Krüger), both written at Suda Bay. The Ottoman stamps were tied on them with "HANIA" cds, dated "Sep.11.97" and "Mars.7.98" (Blockade of Crete)

Canea 1897, Soldier's mail: 1pi lettercard 1897, with dateline "Kissamo 27.3.97" written in German, canceled with "HANIA 28.Mars.97" cds, sent to "POLA 2.4.97", very scarce origin (Blockade of Crete)

Hierapetra 1871: "YERAPETRA" black hexagonal postmark in Old-Turkish, tying a 20pa 1868 (perforated 13¼) on entire folded letter written in Greek (dateline Katochorion 16.June.1871) sent to Neochorion (nowadays Neapolis). Sitia 1884: "ISTIYE POSTA CHUBESI" faint blackish-blue negative seal in Old-Turkish, tying a 20pa black on rose 1880 on entire folded letter written in Greek (dateline Piskokephalo 6.Feb.1884) sent to Neapolis. Not recorded by Agaogullari. Small tearing at top

Suda 1890: "SUDA" bluish gray circular postmark in Old-Turkish, two strikes tying a strip of 4x10pa 1884 (perf. 13½) on envelope sent to "GALATA" via "HANIA Jan.30.1890" cds. Shown in Agaogullari (p. 216, volume 9) and rated RRR. Two items known, this is the better one of the two Provenance: David Feldman Private Treaty, 2006 (May)  

Viannos 1888: "Telegraf ve Postahane-i VIYANOS" blackish blue negative seal in old-Turkish, tying a 20pa 1884 (perforated 13½) on entire folded letter written in Greek (dateline Sykologos 10.July.1888) sent to Neapolis. Not recorded by Agaogullari, but reported in Nicolas & Galinos 93/1, possibly the only known item Provenance: Marinakis collection, Kadinopoulos collection, Karamitsos Auction

Candia 1870s/94: 12 items, all postmarked with "KANDIYE" (hexagonal, x5, Duloz issues), "KANDIYE" (hexagonal) together with "CANDIE Turquie" (x4), "CANDIE Turquie" cds (x1) and "CANDIA" cds (x2). Two registered envelopes are included, Very interesting

Canea 1876/98: 16 documents, all postmarked with "HANYA" (hexagonal, x1), "CANEE Turquie" cds (x2) and "HANIA" cds (x13). Two registered envelopes and nine soldiers mail

Collection of Ottoman cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included are the very rare "Telegraf ve Postahane-i YEREPETRE 300" (2 copies known) and the "HANYA 1285" (rated RRR by Agaogullari). The rest are "SUDA" (x3), "LASSYTH YENIKOY" (x8), HANYA (x20), KANDIYE (x31), RESMO (x13)

Rethymno 1894/97: 5 envelopes, all postmarked "RETHYMO" cds

DODECANES: Kos 1901: 20pa 1892 postal card stationery canceled with stunning strikes "STANKEUI Aout.16.901" cds, sent to "Athens" Greece, via "Smyrna" cds and "Constantinople" (Ottoman & French cds). Rated RR in Agaogullari

Leros 1911: Cover franked with 20pa 1909, tied with stunning strikes "LERYOS (ILE) 26.9.11" cds, sent to "Galata". Very interesting and rare, not rated on cover in Agaogullari, but at least two covers known

Symi 1898: Registered and "AR" (return receipt) corner cover franked with 6x20pa 1892, tied with faint "SYMI Nov.98" and violet boxed "A.R.". Additional "R / UPU" and "AR" markings by the Exchange Post Office, sent to Vienna. Very rare and attractive lot

Symi 1909: Registered corner cover with simple franking 2½pi 1908, tied with blue "SUMBEKI 27.2.909" and small negative seal for the registration, sent to Constantinople. Very interesting

Dodecanese 1860s/1916: 9 items postmarked with cds "KALYMNOS" (x3), "LEROS" (x1), "RADOS Echelle" (x1), "Telegraf ve Postahane-i Rodos" (1) and "RHODES" (x3). Also many rare cancellations on stamps & fragments (including "Kalymnos", "A.R. Calymnos", "Sumbeki", "Symi", "Stanköy", "Nissyros" and "Patnos"), Very attractive lot with some scarce postmarks

EPIRUS: 1840s/1912: 8 items, postmarked with seals and postmarks "YANYA", and "JANINA" & "PREVESA" cds. Also many cancellations on stamps & fragments: Included are the rare and scarce "MARGLITZ", "LOROS", "POGHON", "PHILATES", "PARGHA", "AIDONAT" and "METZOVO". Very interesting and scarce

Janina 1877: "YANYA" circular postmark in old-Turkish, tying three pairs of 1pi 1876 on beautiful cover sent to "Bachtce Capussi 14.Apr.77" via "Stamboul". The rarest pmk of Janina, rated RRR by Agaogullari

Metsovo 1898: "MECHOVA Mars.6.98" canceling a 20pa postal card 1892 sent to "München 15.Mars.98", very rare. Not rated by Agaogullari on document, only two items known (both in the U. Schmitt collection)
