"CORREOS LA GUAIRA AGO 25" (1864) to lettersheet with combination franking Spanish West Indies 1857, 1 real green (cut into at bottom and affected by vertical cover crease), addressed to San Juan de Puerto Rico and mailed via St. Thomas with frontside octagonal blue "S. TOMAS" and adjacent handstamp "1"; the stamp cancelled upon arrival, paying the inland fee. Slight erosions in the top portion of the address panel and the 2 reales with small termite hole; all together a fine and extremely rare entire. HAPAG: 1877, Entire commercial letter dated "St. Thomas 27de febrero 1877" and endorsed inside and outside "p. Lothringia" (Hapag). Since the company was a Hapag client and the letter contained information about a shipment carried on the same steamer, the letter was transported free of charge to La Guaira, here franked with 2 copies 1876, ½ real lilac-rose, tied by undated "CORREOS LA GUAIRA" and handed over to the postal agency in the French consulate where octagonal "LA GUAYRA 20 MARS 77" was applied. A very fine and scarce letter
