1840/1940, Introduction of the Uniform Penny Post, collection on exhibition pages beginning with a small handwritten note dated “2 July 1852” and signed “your obedient servant, William Mulready”, then an unused example each of the 1d black and 2d blue lettersheets and envelopes, lettersheet 1d black cancelled by black maltese cross and “LYNN /JY 12/1841" double-arc cds in black, correctly used to Falkenham and an unused Mulready caricature. There follows a page on the stamp issues with a used example each of the 1d black and 2d blue, 1d black on folded letter and 2d blue on slightly blued paper, cancelled by crisp black maltese cross and used on folded letter “with day list” within London. Also extensive documentation of commemoration in 1890 and 1940. Slightly mixed condition.

1880/1950 (ca.), accumulation of approx. 500 covers and cards with some interesting items such as London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Stamp 2d green with 1880 ½ d deep green and 1881 1d lilac (2) on fragment with “DIEPPE 11 AVRIL 01” arrival cds indicating an unpermitted use of the Railway Stamp on foreign mail, but also two Book Post items to Belgium, a correspondance of 10 letters with SG 467+475 or 471+472 to memebers of the British Middle East Forces or a large c. 1946-50 correspondance of British Forces in Germany OHMS covers within Germany, some of which franked with German Issues and one with 1953 3d purple showing bilingual “BRITISH FIELD POST / ERMÄSSIGTE GEBÜHR” (reduced rate) handstamp in purple. Interesting and varied though in very mixed condition.

1896/1908, Sideface Issues, including both mint and used examples, an in-depth collection of 1/2d through 2s. values, in singles, pairs, and larger multiples including large part sheets, with detailed annotations as to printings, varieties, etc, noting 1896 1d. proof pair on medium wove unwatermarked paper, 1887 1d. imperforate plate proof block in colour of issue, 1896-7 1d. block of four noted “approved proof” and dated on reverse, several pages of 1899 1d. printings with experimental zig-zag roulettes, various examinations of constant plate flaws, including 1897-1908 2s. irregular positional block of fifteen, several 2d. blue showing “cracked plate” varieties in mint and used, including used multiples, pleasing group of 1911 printings in used blocks, complemented by a small number of covers, including. 1901 2-1/2d single franking to India,  and seven “stamp collars” cut from envelopes, advertising Schnapps, Tobacco, Tailors, etc, some items identified as being ex A. Ronald Butler, a few pages of other contemporary issues also included, the occasional small flaw to be expected, but an overall exceptionally fresh and fine collection, likely exceeding 1,000 stamps, a detailed study from which the enthusiast of this issue can expand.
