1788, folded entire with full content dated “St Martin May 28 1788”, addressed to “Mr Thomas White, Berwick", forwarded by British merchant vessel “Edwards”, handed over to the Lancaster post office where it received a fine strike of the black straight-line ”LANCASTER", forwarded to Berwick and charged “6” on delivery. Some transportation trace and normal aging, a fascinating and very early document from the Waite correspondence
Note: interesting content where the sender writes to his brother, mentioning “this letter is by the ship Edwards, Capt. Damien who sails for Lancaster some time tomorrow. There will be another conveyance in a short time, a brig belonging to capt. James Jacksen will depart from this Island in ten or twelve days by which vessel I should write…”
