Nepalese Courts in Tibet : Unfranked official envelope from Kuti Court to Katmandu, showing large ornamental sun and moon seal, fine
Under the Thapatail Treaty of 1855, Nepalese courts were established in the Tibetan towns of Khasa, Kuti, and Kurong, to handle legal cases involving Nepalese citizens. Mail from these courts was struck with the appropriate court seal, and carried with free-franking privileges by couriers to nearby Nepalese border towns.
1890/1907 (ca.), unused and used small lot with a tete beche, 3 proof blocks, etc.
1880/1950 (ca.), interesting holding of about 400 franked and unfranked entires; many different handstamps, colour frankings, registered items, stationeries, etc, etc.
