1855, dotted spandrels 2 skilling blue with 1858, wavy-lined spandrels 8 skilling green, each in horizontal strip of 3 with good to very large margins, used with numeral "51" on lettersheet with adjacent blue Odense cds. (August 15, 1865) to London with arrival mark on front (August 18). A horizontal cover fold not affecting the stamps was pressed and cleaned. 24 October. Last day of the Provisional Government – the Bolshevik seizure of power in Petrograd began during the night of 24 – 25 October. Money letter for 500 roubles sent from Petrograd 2nd Exspeditsia to Stockholm, received there 13 November [New Style]. The franking includes the 1 rouble imperforate, only recently released in Petrograd – perhaps as late as the beginning of October

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS: 1943, Crash cover from a Japanese POW camp on Java to Wales with violet "DAMAGED BY FIRE IN TRANSIT"; the mail was flown from Lisbon to Foynes, Ireland in a flying boat that crashed on Mount Brandon on July 28, 1943. The mail was salvaged and repaired by the Irish post and the cachet applied; very scarce
