1864, folded letter from Callao addressed to Genoa and first transported by ship "Bogota" to Colon and then transshipped onto the "Tamar" to St. Thomas, from there send with the "Atrato" to Southampton, with accountancy mark "GB 2F 87 50/10" alongside, charged upon arrival "14" decimes, a attractive and scarce entire From the letter:" I trust this letter to a sailing boat leaving to Callao, these isles lacking mail connection with the dry land...". The letter was written by an Italian captain who was making costal trading along the West coast of South America. The oval handstamp "PEDRO SOLOGINAC CALLAO" was probably the forwarder in Callao. The isles Chincas, not far from Callao, where the isles of the "Guano". A year later from the date of the letter, the isles becaome the theatre of the Spanish-Peruvian war 1865-1866.
