ZISTOVI: 1859, entire letter with manuscript dispatch notation „Zistova“ to Constantinople, rated 2 pia. 20 pa.. Upon arrival struck with arabic blue negative „fee to be paid“.
„TELEGRAFHANE-I ZISTOVI 1278“ all arabic negative seal, fine clear strike in blue on undated official cover to Rahova and redirected to the governor of Osmanpazari. A very fine and rare cover, just two further strikes recorded. Ex Hitzler (Isfila RRR)

AUSTRIA - PHILIPPINES: 1857, entire letter from Trieste to Manila, prepaid with 49 kreuzer, and originally franked with 1850/54, 2 copies 2 kreuzer black and 9 kreuzer blue, strip of three and two singles (one fallen off and mistakenly replaced by a 2 kreuzer stamp), all tied by cds. "TRIEST 10 8" (1857). On reverse noted "9/30" for the sea postage from Trieste to Alexandria and the conveyance to Singapore; another "2" reales for the postage from Singapore to Manila had to be paid by the recipient. On front faint red cds. of Alexandria with adjacent"1/-" in red crayon. Usual slight ageing and transportation marks; overall a fine and attractive entire. This is the only recorded letter from Austria via the 'overland mail' to the Philippines. Certificate Enzo Diena (stating 2 kreuzer repaired).
1857, kompletter Faltbrief von Triest nach Manila, mit 49 Kreuzern bezahlt bis Singapur, ursprünglich frankiert mit 1850/54, 2 Exemplaren 2 Kreuzer schwarz und Dreierstreifen und zwei Einzelmarken 9 Kreuzer blau (eine abgefallen und irrtümlich durch eine 2-Kreuzer-Marke ersetzt), alle mit EKr. "TRIEST 10 8" (1857). Rückseitig in Rötel "9/30" für das Seeporto von Triest nach Alexandria und die Beförderung nach Singapur; weitere "2" Reales für das Porto von Singapur nach Manila waren vom Empfänger zu zahlen. Vorderseitig schwacher roter Transitstempel von Alexandria sowie "1/-" in roter Kreide. Übliche leichte Alterungs- und Transportspuren, insgesamt ein gut erhaltener und attraktiver Brief. Dies ist der einzige registrierte Brief aus Österreich über die 'overland mail' auf die Philippinen. Fotoattest Enzo Diena ("2 Kreuzer repariert").
FRANCE - GREECE: 1863, lettersheet from Marseille via Trieste to Patras, franked with 1853/61, 80 c. rose and 1862/72, 10 c. bistre, 20 c. blue and 40 c. orange, tied by railway mark "LM 2°" with adjacent "MARSEILLE A LYON 2° 15 JUIN 63"; on reverse several transit- and arrival marks.The 80 c. lightly touched in one place, 2 other values perforation faults, otherwise fine. A very rare and most unusual letter via this route; supposed to be the only letter from France via Triest to Greece.
FRANCE - IONIAN ISLANDS: 1848/57, 2 covers from the same correspondance from Boulogne to the Ionian Bank at Corfu, the first 1848 prepaid with 15 decimes, the other unpaid and taxed with "1/3" shilling
FRANCE - IONIAN ISLANDS: 1855, letter sheet with part of contens from Villemomble to Corfu, franked with 1853/61, 20 c. blue in strip of 5, tied by PC "3613"; on front Corfu arrival mark of 25.6., on reverse Trieste transit mark; small faults; a very scarce destination.
FRANCE - TURKISH EMPIRE (EPIRUS): 1860, lettersheet from Annonay via Trieste to Preveza, franked with 1853/61, 20 c. blue, single and horizontal strip of 4, tied by PC "89" with adjacent "ANNONAY 7 MAI 60"; adjacent "P.P." deleted and substituted by boxed "PD". The strip with faint horizontal crease at top, still fine ; a rare letter to a most unusual Destination.

GREAT BRITAIN - IONIAN ISLANDS, 1851, letter sheet from London (9.1.) to Corfu, franked with embossed issued 1 shilling green, cut to shape, and 1841, 1 d. red-brown in strip of 3, cut in at left, otherwise good to large margins, tied by numeral "1" with adjacent "ANGL. CALAIS" and rare blue Corfu tax mark "d/5/3/8". On reverse transit marks of Feldkirch, Verona and Trieste and arrival mark (24.1.). The strip 1 d. with crease at left, where originally applied around the edge of the cover, otherwise fine. A very scarce and unusual entire. (SG 54/55,8/9)
GREAT BRITAIN (IRELAND) - IONIAN ISLANDS, 1855, cover from "STROKESTOWN NO 26 1855" to Corfu, franked with embossed issued 1 shilling green, cut into at top, otherwise good margins, tied by numeral "417" with adjacent red "AUS ENGLAND PER AACHEN FRANCO" and Corfu arrival mark. In Germany marked with "3¼" silbergroschen for the conveyance from Trieste to Corfu. A fine letter with scarce destination.(SG 54/55)
GREAT BRITAIN - TURKISK EMPIRE: 1857, registered lettersheet from Manchester via Aachen and Trieste to Constantinople, franked with 1855/57, 2 copies 1 d. pale rose (emergency printing May/June 1857), 2 d. blue, 6 d. pale lilac and 1 sh. green, tied by barred "498"; several register marks including boxed "TRIEST Recommandirt" on reverse. The postage consists of 3 sgr. each British and German postage, 1 sgr. Belgian transit, 4¼ sgr. postage beyond Trieste and 5 sgr. British- and 2 sgr. German registration fee (total 18¼ sgr. = 1sh. 10 pence). Stamps with some mostly unobtrusive faults, still fine and very attractive. The earliest recorded registered cover from England to the Levante bearing stamps. Certificate Louis BPP (2012) (SG 34,38,70,72)

PAPAL STATES - TRIESTE: 1869, large size quintuple rate registered envelope from Rome to the Russian consul at Trieste, franked with 6 copies 1867, 80 cmi. on vivid rose and 1868, 10 cmi. on orange, 20 cmi. on red and 40 cmi. on yellow, all tied by grid with adjacent "DIRECTIONE DI ROMA 20 GEN. 69" and french transit mark; on reverse rare oval "RECOMMANDIRT TRIEST 26/4 1869". An outstanding cover with a rare and most attractive 4 colour- 550 cmi.-franking. Certificate Colla (2013) (Sassone 20a+26a,27,29)

PAPAL STATES - TURKISH EMPIRE, 1855, Entire letter from Ancona to Constantinople, entirely prepaid with 1852, 3 bajocchi on brownish and 2 copies 7 bajocchi on blue, tied by cds. "ANCONA 2 AGO. 55" with adjacent blue oval "AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO Ancona"; on reverse rated in red crayon "9" and "8" for the Papal States- and sea postage. Desinfection slits and little unfresh, old fashioned price sticker at upper left. A still fine entire with scarce destination.
PAPAL STATES - AUSTRIA (HUNGARY): 1868, entire letter from Rome to Pest, franked with 1867, 5 cmi. on blue green and 40 cmi. on yellow and 1868, 10 cmi. on orange, tied by diamont of dots with adjacent "ROMA 18 GIU. 68" and french transit mark. The letter was endorsed "Via Triest" but forwarded via France, which was the most common route at that time. A fine entire, singned Emilio Diena.
ITALY - TURKISH EMPIRE (ALBANIA), 1871, Lettersheet from Venice via Trieste and Antivari to Scutari, franked for the distance to Antivari with 1863, 60 cmi. lilac, tied by dotted "196", in Antivari franked for the remaining way with Turkey 1869, 10 paras lilac and postage due 2 pia. with blue all Arabic double circle. The 2 pia. slightly affected by horizontal cover crease, still fine and scarce.
NETHERLANDS - GREECE: 1853, unpaid entire letter from Amsterdam via Prussia and Trieste to Athens, taxed with a total of "140" lepta to be paid by receipient, which included 6 kreuzer dutch postage, 9 kreuzer German Postal Union share and 9 kreuzer sea postage. Several transit- and arrival marks on reverse. Certificate Puschmann (2003)
NETHERLANDS - HOLY LAND: 1868, small envelope from "UTRECHT 14 MRT 68" to Jerusalem, bearing 1867-69 King William 10c. lake and 20c. green, tied by framed "franco", paying the single letter rate. On front of the envelope shows manuscript "wf2" sgr. credit to Prussia in blue and red "4" kr. credit to Austria, on reverse framed "EMMERICH/OBERHAUSEN", oval "TRIEST" and "GERUSALEMME /4/4" arrival mark of the Austrian PO. The adhesives with slight marginal staining and 20 c. rounded corner at lower right, otherwise fine. A very rare item; the only recorded letter from the Netherlands via Trieste to the Holy Land.
NETHERLANDS - DUTCH INDIES: 1871, double rate letter from "ROTTERDAM 3 JUL 71", endorsed "via Triest" to Padang with arrival mark (19.8.) on reverse, franked with 2 copies each 1867, 50 c. gold (small corner crease resp. paper break) and 5 c. blue. Despite the faults an attractive and scarce entire; just 5 % of the mail from the Netherlands to it's colonies in Asia were transported via Triest.
PORTUGAL - TURKISH EMPIRE: 1865, lettersheet from Lisbon to Smyrna, franked with 1862/64, 5, 10, 25 and 100 (2) reis, tied by numeral "1" with adjacent "LISBOA 19/8 65" and boxed "P.D."; on reverse transit marks of railway "VERVIERS/COELN" and Trieste and arrival mark of the Austrian PO. Two stamps cut into, otherwise mostly ample to good margins. An attractive and rare 4-colour franking; the only recorded letter from Portugal via Trieste to Turkey. DUTCH EAST INDIES - NETHERLANDS: 1853, entire prepaid letter with 6 pages of text, dated "Koepang den 28 September 1853", written by the son of missionary Geerloff Heijmering to relatives in Zaltbommel, showing on front clear oval "FRANKO TIMOR" with "ZEE BRIEF" covered and manuscript "Landmail" inserted; adjacent "pr. Landmail via Triest". On reverse manuscript "120" for pre-paiment in duiten, boxed "INDIE OVER TRIEST" and Bommel arrival mark of 14.5.1854. An interesting letter from the Island of Timor.
DUTCH EAST INDIES - SWEDEN: 1858, entire letter, dated "Padang 16 Maj 1858" and postmarked "BATAVIA FRANCO 7 6" to Stockholm, endorsed "Per Overland mail via Trieste"; on reverse Berlin transit mark (26.7.). At Triest the blue framed "6¼" was applied next to manuscript "3¼/3" for the sea postage from Alexandria to Trieste and Postal Union fee to Stralsund. Sweden charge a total of "1-1" riksdaler. A rare letter from Sumatra.
1857, Kuvert mit handschriftlichem Leitvermerk "Franco via Bremen" aus "ДЕРПТЪ DORPAT 185 АВГ 16" via "KÖNIGSBG. 3 9 * I. MARIENBG." mit entsprechendem roten L1 "Aus Russland" vorderseitig, sowie "ST. P.A. BREMEN 5 9" mit rotem Ra1 "PAID." sowie Verrechnungsstempel "10", per Dampfer "Ariel" nach New York und schließlich Philadelphia. Der Umschlag oben gering eingerissen, sonst in sehr guter Erhaltung, der einzig bekannte Beleg aus Russland über diesen Leitweg
