1938, Scholars 25 s. imperforated, two singles one with bottom sheet margin. one from the lower right corner, reconstructed as pair. The  horizontal marginal bar at the bottom margin shows that this is an archival proof, printed during the production of the postage stamps, in contrast to the imprimatur proofs, which were printed earlier without a marginal bar (see subsequent lot). This proof shows the difference between imprimatur proofs and archival proofs. One single is signed Nemvalz, very rare positional match to the imprimatur proof below, very fine

PRUSSIA - UNITED STATES: 1851, Entire letter from "COELN 17/2", prepaid with "39½" silbergroschen addressed to a member of the German ship "Reform" at San Francisco, endorsed "via Panama", travelled via London, in closed package per "Trend" to St. Thomas (arrived March 19) and on March 24 per "Great Western" to Shagres and further via Panama to San Francisco, on reverse forwarding agent mark "Reynolds & Co. SCHWEIZ: 1872, Frachtbrief (Lettre de Voiture) mit DKr. "MENZIKEN 12 VII 72" zu einer bar freigemachten Geldsendung (Barschaft über 300 Franken) via Frankfurt am Main und Bremen nach Terre Haute, Indiana. Das Porto setzt sich aus 40 Rappen plus deutschem Portoanteil von 6 Groschen plus 3 Groschen Versicherungsgebühr sowie dem Weiterfranko ab Bremen von 60 Groschen zusammen. Sowohl bei der Berechnung des Schweizerischen wie auch des Weiterfrankos ab Bremen fiel eine Gewichtsgebühr nicht an, da sie niedriger als die Wertgebühr gewesen wäre. Nur für die deutsche Strecke musste sowohl ein Gewichts- als auch ein Wertporto errichtet werden. Möglicherweise einzig bekannter über Bremen gelaufener Paketbegleitbrief aus der Schweiz nach Übersee
