ITALY - TURKISH EMPIRE (ALBANIA), 1871, Lettersheet from Venice via Trieste and Antivari to Scutari, franked for the distance to Antivari with  1863, 60 cmi. lilac, tied by dotted "196", in Antivari franked for the remaining way with Turkey 1869, 10 paras lilac and postage due 2 pia. with blue all Arabic double circle. The 2 pia. slightly affected by horizontal cover crease, still fine and scarce.

NETHERLANDS - HOLY LAND: 1868, small envelope from "UTRECHT 14 MRT 68" to Jerusalem, bearing 1867-69 King William 10c. lake and 20c. green, tied by framed "franco", paying the single letter rate. On front of the envelope shows manuscript "wf2" sgr. credit to Prussia in blue and red "4" kr. credit to Austria, on reverse framed "EMMERICH/OBERHAUSEN", oval "TRIEST" and "GERUSALEMME /4/4" arrival mark of the Austrian PO. The adhesives with slight marginal staining and 20 c. rounded corner at lower right, otherwise fine. A very rare item; the only recorded letter from the Netherlands via Trieste to the Holy Land.

NETHERLANDS - DUTCH INDIES: 1871, double rate letter from "ROTTERDAM 3 JUL 71", endorsed "via Triest" to Padang with arrival mark (19.8.) on reverse, franked with 2 copies each 1867, 50 c. gold (small corner crease resp. paper break) and 5 c. blue. Despite the faults an attractive and scarce entire; just 5 % of the mail from the Netherlands to it's colonies in Asia were transported via Triest.

Two stamps cut into, otherwise mostly ample to good margins. An attractive and rare 4-colour franking; the only recorded letter from Portugal via Trieste to Turkey. SWITZERLAND - JAPAN: 1870, entire letter to Yokohama, franked with 1862/81, 5 c. ocre, 20 c. orange and 30 c. light ultramarine in strip of 3, cancelled by straight line "NEUKIRCH a/Th" and additionally tied by cds "BÜRGLEN 5 JUNI 70". The letter is endorsed "Via Triest&Suez", on reverse transit marks of Vienna and Hongkong and arrival mark of the British PO. The left stamp of the strip lightly affected by horizontal cover crease, the 20 c. missing corner perf at lower right, otherwise very fine and fresh, especially for this exotic destination. OCT. 29"; endorsed "Via England" but transported via Prussia and Trieste with red "Aachen 3 12" on reverse next to arrival mark (in mistake 3.11., Julian calendar). On front noted in blue crayon "55 10 15" neukreuzer for the conveyance from New York to the Greek harbour and in red crayon the total due of "255" lepta to be paid by the recipient. TURKISH EMPIRE (THESSALY) - AUSTRIA: 1870: Entire letter  from Volos to Trieste, dated inside '11/23 July 1870' (Gregorian resp. Julian calender), franked with Egypt 1867, 1 pi. red,tied by black 'retta' as the Volos Consular Post Office datestamp had yet to be placed in use. The cover travelled with the Khedivial Mail Line to Syros with frontside "SYROS 12 JULY 70", rated '25' lepta in blue crayon (equal to 10 kreuzer to be paid by the receipient) and was forwarded to the Austrian Lloyd express line from Constantinople to Triest.; on reverse Trieste arrival cds (July 28). An outstanding and unique entire - the Consular Office on Volos was announced to open on July 14, 1870, thus this cover was mailed on the second of the (weekly) services. Signed A. Diena, A. YORK AM. PKT. PAID 1865 24 DEC.". 10 so. slightly damaged at top, where affixed over the edge of the cover and few shortish perfs, otherwise very fine with usual slight transportation marks. A scarce early cover from the Levante to the United States.

ALEXANDRIE EGYPTE", on front "COL VAPORE D'ALESSANDRIA" next to blue boxed "6¼" (silbergroschen) of Triest for the conveyance to the danish border, corresponding with manuscript "8½" Hamburg shilling. In Denmark a total of "36" skilling were charged to the receipient, including 8 skilling internal Danish postage. An interesting letter with scarce destination.

MAURITIUS-NORTH GERMAN FEDERATION: 1869, small wrapper endorsed "Via Trieste" and franked with DLR 1 d. brown, tied by duplex "MAURITIUS AU 26 69" to Danzig, Prussia, showing on front blue "FORWARDED BY SCOTT & CO. MAURITIUS". Although the wrapper was correctly franked, it was not accepted as printed matter and charged "1/1" (equal 11 sgr.) for the letter rate via England. A fine and interesting item.

Pages
